Adeline's P.O.V

The next day at school, Cheryl came up to me with Toni. I noticed the flyers in their hands which could only mean one thing.

"Adeline, I am having a back to school party at my place. I need your help in spreading the word," Cheryl smiled.

"Of course. Just hand me the flyers. I'll go ahead and hand them out," I tell her.

"Make sure you invite Sweet Pea and Beckham okay? Oh and your new friend," Cheryl told me.

"Okay."

I walked over to my first class to hand the envelope to Carly first.

"What's this?" Carly asked.

"An invitation to Cheryl Blossom's back to school party," I explained.

"Wow. I've never been to her parties before."

"You should come. They're fun," I smiled.

"I don't drink," Carly admitted shyly.

"Neither do I. I just go for the snacks," I laughed a little.

During passing period, I handed Beckham and Sweet Pea the flyers together. Weirdly, they were together.

"I expect to see the two of you there," I tell them.

"Come on, Adeline. You know us, we don't disappoint," Beckham smiled down at me.

"Besides, we'll be on our best behavior," Sweet Pea promised.

"You better," I eyed at them before walking off.

The night of Cheryl's back to school party was a hit. I wore a cute pink dress while Carly wore a pale blue one. I danced with Carly a little before we went to get some water together. Carly and I leaded against some wall as Beckham and Sweet Pea walked over to the two of us.

"You two look cute," Beckham complimented at us.

"Thanks, Beckham," I smiled over.

"May I sneak in a dance with you?" Sweet Pea asked me.

"Yeah. You can," I smiled at him. I heard someone clink their glass making me look over to see Cheryl standing in front of the DJ.

"My esteemed guests, may I have your attention please?" Cheryl asked. Everyone quieted down to listen to her.  "Students of Riverdale, we have a new enemy in our midst. This killjoy is our new principal, Mr. Honey."

Everyone booed at his name. I couldn't blame them. He did cancel our dance which I was looking forward to.

"However, never fear. I, as your student body president, will make sure that he is beheaded by Homecoming, or my name isn't Cheryl Marjorie Blossom," Cheryl smiled. Everyone cheered and the music came back on. I forgot that Cheryl became the student body president when I moved away.

As promised, I danced with Sweet Pea while Carly danced with Beckham. It felt weird for me to say that the two looked cute together. I looked up at Sweet Pea who held me close to him.

"I need to confess something to you," Sweet Pea slurred a little.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I am still in love with you, Adeline. I miss you. I miss us," Sweet Pea told me. My heart fluttered but my mind didn't. I didn't feel ready nor did this feel right.

"Are you drunk?" I asked.

"Just a little."

I saw blue and red lights making me stop and look over. Everyone turned to see the police walking over.

"Party's over. Everyone go home," I heard Mr. Jones yell.

"Are we going to get in trouble?" Carly asked me.

"Nope. Let's go," I tell her before walking away.

"Wait, Adeline!"

I looked over at Sweet Pea who was looking at me.

"I need to go," I tell him before leaving with Carly.

"You should sleep over my house," I tell her.

"Will your mom be okay with that?" Carly asked me.

"Yeah. It's fine. Come on," I convinced.

We sat on my bed as we watched some cheesy Netflix movie on my laptop. We were in my pajamas as we lied in bed.

"What's going on with you and Sweet Pea?" Carly asked me.

"I don't know. I broke up with him because he cheated on me. Then I dated Beckham but I broke up with him because I didn't want to do long distance and hold him back. And being back here, I don't know how I feel about dating," I sighed.

"Well, it's your decision. If you're not ready, then don't do it," Carly told me.

"You're right."

"Besides, we're juniors. It's not like we need to date now or else life will end," Carly mentioned.

"Yeah. You're right. I shouldn't have to worry about that now," I smiled over.

"Oh here comes the good part," Carly mentioned as we turned our attention back to the movie.
