Adeline's P.O.V

Halloween was a fun time of the year. I loved the spooky theme and costumes. When we were younger, Archie, Jughead, and Betty would go trick or treat with me and Jellybean. Now that I was older, I get to pass out candy to the little kids.

"Thanks for taking me to Greendale by the way," I said to Beckham as he drove over to the town next to ours.

"No problem. Are you and Carly going to Archie's Halloween party at the community center?" Beckham asked me.

"No. We're just gonna watch movies at my house."

"What are you two dressing up as?" 

"We are going to be Daphne and Velma from Scooby-Doo. Can you guess which one I'm gonna be?" I asked.

"Hmm... Velma?" Beckham asked jokingly. 

"Correct," I say, going along with the joke. 

"Well, hopefully, I can see you two in your costumes later?" Beckham asked me. 

"Maybe. You and Sweet Pea can stop by if you two want," I tell him. 

"We'll stop by," Beckham smiled. 

Beckham went to another store while I went inside the place my pen pal wanted to meet. It was a bookstore and cafe called Cerberus Books. I walked inside the store and looked around. I looked over to see her sitting at a table. 

"Evangeline!" I said loud enough for her to hear. 

"Adeline!" She got up and rushed over to hug me. 

"It's so great to meet you finally!" I tell her.

"I know! Writing on paper is not the same as finally talking in real life."

"It isn't," I giggled.

"So, how have you been? I'm sorry to hear about your father by the way," Evangeline told me.

"Thanks. I've been fine. Just been focusing on school."

"That's good."

"How about you? How have you been?"

"Great. I've just been stuck between couples so that's great. Honestly, I'm happier being single. It's not so bad," Evangeline sighed.

"I know how you feel. Two of my exes want to get back together with me but I'm not in the mood with being in a relationship right now," I tell her. 

"Well, focus on yourself first then decide later. You're a beautiful woman and you can get any guy you want. So it's okay to wait," Evangeline told me.

"So are you. Now, what do you recommend from here? This place seems really nice," I tell her. 

"The milkshakes are good. Though, I heard the milkshakes at Pop's diner are to die for."

"They are. You should come over sometime and I'll treat you," I tell her. 

"Sounds like a plan."

After our meeting, Beckham dropped me back at my house. I changed into my Daphne costume before opening the candy bag and filling up the bowl. 

"You're not going to Archie's party?" Mom asked me.

"Nah. I wanted to just watch Halloween movies tonight with Carly," I tell her.

"Oh okay. Have fun. I'm gonna go out for a little bit," mom told me. 

"You be safe mom," I tell her.

"I could say the same thing," she said. 

Once Carly came in, we took a quick couple of pictures before posting them on Instagram. I set up the TV for the movies while Carly placed the snacks she brought out. 

"So, what movie do you want to watch first? I'm thinking of Halloweentown," I said.

"Let's watch that. How can you not enjoy Halloween without watching Halloweentown?" Carly asked with a small laugh. 

Throughout the night, we took turns passing out candy and watched the movies together. I heard my doorbell ring once again, making me stand up. I headed over to the door and opened it to see Sweet Pea and Beckham standing there in front of me. Sweet Pea was dressed as a skeleton while Beckham was dressed as Clark Kent with the white dress shirt unbuttoned so you could see the Superman logo. 

"Hey, boys."

"Hi," Sweet Pea smiled at me. 

"Hey."

"I didn't know you two were coming," Carly said as she came over to the door. 

"I said they can come over if they wanted to later. Since we are friends after all," I explained. "We're in the middle of watching some horror movie right now. Come on in."

"How's giving out candy so far?" Sweet Pea asked me. 

"It's fine."

"Some kids dressed up as the black hood and the gargoyle king. How tasteless," Carly scoffed.

"I'm surprised their parents let them out like that," Beckham said. 

"Me too," I said, shaking my head. 

Some point after the second movie we watched with the boys, Carly and Beckham fell asleep. I was getting sleepy myself. I looked over at Sweet Pea who was also sleepy. 

"We should wake up the two and get you guys going," I tell Sweet Pea. 

"Yeah."

Here's something to know. When I get sleepy, I do weird things. There was one time Archie told me that I poured cereal for myself and just left it sitting and claimed it was for Vegas late at night once. 

"Sweet Pea."

"Yeah?"

"You're pretty," I mumbled. He let out a small chuckle before wrapping his arm around my shoulders. I leaned my head onto his shoulder and wrapped my arms around his waist. 

"I miss you," Sweet Pea mumbled.

"Miss you too," I said before closing my eyes.
