Adeline's P.O.V

I stared at the check Veronica gave to me for Archie. I was debating what to do with the check since Veronica gave it to me for Archie.

"Hey," I looked up to see mom standing by my door. I hid the check and nodded.

"What's up, mom?"

"Well, I thought about it and I am going to stay here with you and Archie. I'll do some work here and help your brother out with the community center. We'll have it under as a non-profit business," mom told me.

"Really? Wow. That's great."

"Do you have any plans on helping out your brother with the community center?"

"Yeah. Archie asked me to help tutor the kids and I said yes."

"I'm glad you're helping out your brother. It's nice to see you both helping each other out," mom told me.

"Yeah. I think Archie's community center is great for him and everyone here in Riverdale."

The next week, I walked out of the house to check the mail but stopped when I saw the newspaper. I picked it up but felt something in between the paper. I look over and saw a VHS tape. I looked around before bringing it inside.

"What do you have there?" Archie asked as he came over.

"A VHS tape. Weird. They don't usually make these anymore," I tell him.

"What's on it?"

"Don't know. Can you watch it with me? The last time I watched something suspicious, it was Jason Blossom's murder."

"Yeah. Come on."

We went to the living room and Archie put in the tape. I sat on the couch as I waited. Archie sat by me once the TV was on. It was just a video of our house. I looked over at Archie who looked back at me.

"Um, fast forward it please," I asked.

Archie fast-forwarded the video but all it was just endless footage of our house. I looked over at Archie who looked back at me.

"Call Mr. Jones. This isn't good," I tell Archie.

"Yeah. I'll call him."

"Turn off the TV too. I can't watch this anymore," I said as I stood up. I walked out of the room before going upstairs.

I quickly went into my room and locked the window and closed my blinds and curtains. Knowing that someone was watching our house was scary. How in hell is this town still functioning?!

The more painful thing was that Halloween was coming up. As much as I loved Halloween, I hated how this town was ruining the things I loved.

"Hey, Adeline!" I turned around to see Carly walk over to me.

"Hey, Carly. What's up?" I smiled.

"Halloween is coming up. Have any plans?" She asked.

"I'm actually going to Greendale to meet a pen pal of mine. There's like a place where it has all this Halloween-themed stuff and we're going to get some milkshakes. But at night I'm just gonna pass out candy to kids. Wanna join me in passing out candy?" I asked.

"Yeah!"

"I should ask either Beckham or Sweet Pea to give me a ride over to Greendale later."

"They're most likely going to say yes no matter what. Knowing that they still have feelings for you," Carly told me.

"Well, right now is just focusing on me. No new relationship or anything else," I tell her.

"Good for you. By the way, do you want to do a best friend's outfit thing together?" Carly asked me.

"Um, yes! Who should we go as?"

"I think I have an idea," Carly smiled.

After school, I saw Beckham over at the football field. I headed over towards him and tapped his shoulder.

"Hey, Beckham. Can I ask you for a favor?"

"Anything. What's up?"

"Can you take me over to Greendale after school tomorrow? I'm about to meet my pen pal and I can't drive yet."

"No problem. I'll meet you up in front of the school," Beckham smiled.

"Thank you. You're the best."

Author's Note: Please do not ask for when the next update is. I am doing my best to write while also balancing two jobs and school. I'm sorry for taking a while but please be patient with me. I have spring break next week so it'll let me have some time to write some future chapters and have it ready to be posted soon.
