Aubreys POV

We were forced into doing what ever this stupid play is. Though we had the choice between a classic and a newer musical. I chose the newer one subconsciously because it was featuring a smart female lead. Don't judge me, I haven't seen High School Musical. I know, I must be crazy. I heard people singing and so I looked up to see what was going on.

"Why are they singing?" I asked my friends

"High school musical, it's a musical." Elizabeth said

"Seriously, you need to watch that movie." Samantha said

"I'm aware." I said "How did your auditions go?" I asked them

"Only I've gone. He's going backwards through the alphabet." Samantha said

"What did you audition for?" I asked

"What do you care?" Lillian snorted

"Nevermind." I laughed and stared back at the front. I watched my friends audition and I was near the end.

"Aubrey Cooper?" Mr. Netton. I raised my hand. "Come up here please. And which will you be auditioning for? The play or the musical?" He asked exhausted after what happened last year.

"Umm... I'm actually not sure yet." I said unsure of what to choose.

"Okay then. Please choose before the end of class. Go sit down. Next is Cristine Bright!" He said waving me off

"Just go for the play, like me." Sam suggested

"No, do the musical with me! C'mon!" Elizabeth said begging me

"Liz, you know she's too shy to sing. And to mean." Lillian joked as I gave her a weak smile.

"I know." I half joked looking away as they continued to insult me unwittingly. The last 3 auditions were me and two others when the bell rang for break.

"Okay last students to audition stay others may leave. Thanks to some people, to others try better." Mr. Notten said. Liz gave me a wink as they left. Liz and Lillian are both singers so they're obviously in the musical. I think I'm going to do the musical because I doubt anyone dies in it.

"And last but couldn't be least, Aubrey. Have you made a decision yet?" Mr. Notten asked me

"Yep, the musical. But please, no singing." I said. I've sang 3 times in my life, only to my family though. They might think I'm good, they lie and lie to my face to make me happy.

"Just try your best, there is no one left in hear you sing. From the top of status quo please." He said playing the music

"I actually haven't seen this movie, I don't know the song." I said

"What?" He yelled "Why audition for the musical then?"

"I don't like the story of Romeo and Juliet." I explained quietly

"Okay fine, last chance. Sing any song, please." He said gesturing towards the stage

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you happy birthday dear mr. Not-" I sang because I was put on the spot.

"Stop, stop, stop!" He inturupted "Here just sing, somewhere over the rainbow." He instructed

"M'kay, uhh... Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue. There's a land that I heard of," I sang

"That's great! Now can you please study the movie, as homework?" He asked me once I was done singing. I nodded.
