Electra devoured her second burger, Ron watching her as she ate like she hadn't eaten in months, which she hadn't. Sauce was dotted on her cheeks, salad falling from her mouth but she didn't care. She looked up at Ron who was watching her so intently.
"Want some?" she asked but it was barely understandable, her mouth was so full of burger meat. Ron shook his head lightly, trying to hold back a small chuckle. Electra swallowed what was in her mouth before speaking up again.
"You're rather quiet," he just nodded, not answering audibly. "Why aren't you at Hogwarts?"
"What aren't you at Hogwarts?" he retorted, Electra just rolled her eyes.
"I think what happened with Vega back there is a perfect example of why I couldn't go back to Hogwarts," she snapped, "But why aren't you?"
"I can't tell you why," his answers continue to be short and snappy.
"I see, you don't trust me. I thought after witnessing me declare I had no interest in working for him you-"
"It's not that," he interrupts, "Well, I mean I don't trust you...at all. But even if I did I couldn't tell you. The school thinks I'm ill with spattergroit," Electra frowns in confusion.
"But why?" she presses once more. "I have no one to snitch t-"
"I can't say," he says through his teeth, "Look, not even my parents and family know what we're doing, it's completely secret from everyone." he reiterates thinking that this will end the conversation.
"We?" Electra repeats. Ron looks up at her, noticing his mistake of word choice, "So whatever you're up to you're obviously with Harry," she says like it's obvious, he opens his mouth to speak but she speaks again before he can.
"And Hermione can't be back at Hogwarts, with them rounding up the Muggleborns, so I'm sure she's with you too. Besides, there's no way you bolt heads could get anything done without her," she chuckled to herself.
"Hey!" Ron whined defensively, earning a raised eyebrow from Electra. Reluctantly, he shrugged in agreement.
"So...why aren't they with you?" she asks, picking up a chip from her plate and dipping it in ketchup. He sighed, almost like he was annoyed at himself.
"I got into an argument with them and stormed off. I regretted it immediately, but I can't find them again because of the protective enchantments Hermione cast," he looked down at the table, playing with his cutlery. "I dunno, I think us three being together in a tent for months just got me all worked up,"
Electra nodded, letting him speak his mind before piping up again.
"I've been listening to Potterwatch," she says, causing Ron's eyes to flick up at her, "Apparently Harry broke in to the Ministry back in the summer...I'm assuming so did you?"
Ron didn't like how much information Electra seemed to know, of course he had witnessed her confrontation with Vega which revealed she was very much uninterested in joining the Death Eaters. But she was still friends with Draco, and information could trickle from him to Voldemort himself.
"You seem to know a lot don't you?" he quizzed her, only causing her to laugh.
"Look Ron, the whole Wizarding World knows Harry is up to something. And if you, Harry and Hermione are all off school... I mean it doesn't take a genius to work out you're all together plotting something. I mean there's something happening every year for you three," she defended, and Ron knew she was right. It was what they were doing which had to remain a secret.
"Anyway, I've got my own issues. My suspicions of the Death Eaters wanting to recruit me seem to have been confirmed,"
"I saw their file on you," Ron revealed.
"What?"
"When we broke into the Ministry, they have files on everyone. My Dad, your Dad, Hermione, Dumbldore, Me... You. It's so they can track Muggleborns and possible Order Members,"
"Well, what does mine say?" she pressed.
"Urm...that you were the daughter of a known Member of the Order. Your father is an Auror...urm. Possible Order Member yourself, but also known to have killed Dumbledore. That you were a possible ally of the Dark Lord," he revealed, trying to remember all he saw.
"Fuck, they know everything don't they..." she sighed, "Did it say anything about my dad? Like...is he alive?"
"It just said that he was being closely monitored," she sighed in frustration. Ron spoke up again, "Where have you been staying if you haven't been at Hogwarts?"
She silently looked up at him with deep eyes, she didn't need to say anything but he understood.
"You haven't been sleeping rough have you?" he asked, she just nodded in response.
"I move every few days... find a new wood or forest or field. Find some sort of shelter, steal some food..." she whispered, "I've been searching for my father,"
"How long have you been doing that?"
"Since that night. That night I came to speak to your dad," she shrugged like it was nothing.
"That was in July," he says in shock, only getting a nod as a reply from Electra.
They had finished their food and drink by this point, just sitting awkwardly in silence opposite each other. Electra looked around the cafe at the other Muggles eating their food.
"I don't have any Muggle money," she states.
"Me either," he replies in realisation. They both looked around the cafe, looking for the waitress who was nowhere in sight. Without discussion, the two of them get up from their seats and leave the cafe inconspicuously. Once outside they were hit by the cold London air and bustling streets. The weather and bright Christmas street lights told the pair that it was either December or late November. The two turn to each other, preparing for an awkward goodbye.
"Guess I'll see you around, Weasley," they nodded goodbye, turning around and walking away in the opposite direction. She'd walked several feet away, thinking about where she would go next, when Ron called her:
"Electra!" he called, she turned back around to face him. He took a deep sigh, before reluctantly saying: "You can come and stay with me,"
