"So you're BFFs with Ronald Weasley all of a sudden?"
"We're just friendly!" Electra insisted to Draco in the common room. As expected, this conversation wasn't going down well. But her and Draco told each other everything, so it was the first thing she told him when she returned.
"But you tried to kiss him?"
"I dunno! I just got the urge!" she defended her actions. "And he didn't kiss me and now I feel weird,"
"Weird?"
"Like, like, like some infatuation with him. I've never been rejected by a guy before and then Ron Weasley comes and turns me down and I'm all of a sudden obsessed him!" she gasped. Her emotions towards the boy were confusing to herself but Draco seemed to understand. She couldn't stop thinking about him since the incident, she just wanted to talk to him all the time. Ask him how he was, play chess, fly on his broomstick. She would do absolutely anything to spark a conversation with him.
"Ah, I see. You know the solution to this right?" she shook her head in response. "You need to kiss him. Simple. Then you'll be over it and can get back to normal,"
"You think so?" she pondered. Kissing Ron Weasley definitely would feel like some sort of accomplishment, like she'd finally cracked the puzzle of Ronald Weasley. Being rejected by him and most likely made a blow to her self esteem and that's why she was so desperate to be around him. To prove herself worthy of him. Yeah, that was all this was. She chuckled to herself, realising she had gotten flustered over nothing.
Over in the Gryffindor common room, Harry was confronting Ron about Electra as well and their new found 'friendship'.
"Electra Travers? Are you serious, Ron?" he groaned in annoyance.
"I don't understand how this is such a big deal. I was just friendly, okay? She's lonely at Grimmauld Place and you guys made it hell for her before,"
"Don't start switching the blame on us!" Hermione jumped in.
"You better not have told her anything to do with the D.A," Harry warned in a serious tone.
"Of course not!"
"Good. And you're not to tell her. She can't be trusted..." he muttered in reply.
"You guys make her out to be way worse than she really is," Ron assured them, but they weren't listening. Their attention was diverted to a conversation between the two of them about the next D.A meeting. Ron shook his head in disbelief; he knew that it wouldn't be the last time he hung out with the Slytherin girl. She was great company, as well as humorous and kind and Hermione and Harry weren't going to stop him from seeing her.
That weekend, Ron was walking the castle grounds when he saw his newly found friend sat by the lake, leaning against a tree, drawing intensely in her sketch pad. He made his way over to her and when she noticed his presence, a smile instantly spread across her face.
"What you drawing?" he asked, sitting down opposite her. She turned her sketch pad round so he could see; it was a beautiful, glistening mermaid with long, messy curls that fell down to cover her chest. "Wow." was all he could say. Her art left him mesmerised every time.
"It's what I imagine mermaids would look like. I know they're know where near this pretty though, my father has explained how they look before to me," she went back to shading in the drawing.
"You really are talented," he smiled at her, before readjusting himself. "Draw me," She looked up at him.
"E-e-excuse me?" she stammered nervously. Ron shrugged his shoulders at her.
