~~~Chapter 15~~~
"Yorks," Connor snarled looking in the direction I was staring at. "The water surrounding distorted my sense of smell. I thought I smelt something fishy...no pun intended."
Iris looked like she was having so much fun with them. As much as I wanted to drag her away from Ebony, I didn't really have the heart to rip that smile off her face.
I glanced at Noah, his face was stuck into a book. He really looked peaceful just sitting there reading. If I hadn't been told not to interact with him, I would've probably walked up to him now and made a new friend.
I wasn't the party type and neither was he, I didn't think. He was more of the reading, antisocial type person in my opinion.
I didn't know how I got along with Iris and Nate so well because they were socialising types that liked meeting new people all the time and liked partying all the time.
As if he could sense someone staring his way, Noah lifted his face above the book he was reading.
He spotted me and recognition and surprise filled his facial features. He was starting to get up until Connor stepped infront of me. His mouth was in a tight line; jaw clenched.
"Let's go," Connor said to me, eyes warning Noah not to come over. He pushed me lightly forward directing me to go even further away from everyone on the beach.
I stared back at Noah, his face was contorted into a pained expression.
He mouthed the word: please.
I looked away and closed my eyes. I was always a person that liked to please people; hated seeing people sad or angry.
What made the situation totally worse was that he was so nice in that short time I had interacted with him. The only thing I didn't really understand was how did he even know me before kickboxing classes? I had never seen him; at least I didnt think so.
Connor picked up the cooler and needed help with the rest of the things. I looked for Nate, raking my eyes over the spot we were at. He just stood there, looking at something...someone.
"That's Ebony." Nate emotionlessly stated. "My ex."
I gaped. "What?!"
"My ex vampire girlfriend that I broke up with...I can't even remember anything. I don't even remember why I asked her but I did. Broke it with her like two weeks later," he explained. "I just...I don't remember much actually."
Ebony looked up right at that moment right at Nate. Her eyes faded from her laughing eyes to something that looked a little like regret. But when she looked over at me, her eyes flashed with undeniable anger.
Iris seemed to realise Ebony's attention was elsewhere and looked over to us.
She smiled widely in our direction. "Linda! Nate!" She shouted.
We waved weakly as Ebony smirked. Ebony leaned over and whispered something in Iris's ear that made her wave at us, signalling she was leaving. What was that? What did she say?
Is she going to hurt Iris? I thought frantically.
I almost ran to them until Connor stopped me. "They won't hurt her. It's absolutely against rules; so, don't worry."
It was hard not to worry. That was my bestfriend and she was hanging out with someone that had the potential to hurt her.
Just listen to Connor, Belinda. I told myself. He knows more then you do about this so just leave it. Iris doesn't seem like she's having a bad time does she? So leave it.
