~~~Chapter 2~~~
His eyes bore into mine while licking his lips. He sniffed in my scent while I struggled to get away; but, he was too strong. The more I struggled to get away, the tighter his grip became.
“Oh, the smell of sweet strawberries,” he said sniffing my hair.
I shouted as loud as I could, screaming for someone-anyone but no one came. He reached to brush the hair away from my neck.
“It’s no use little girl. You’ll never get passed me. Ever.”
“Linda! Linda! Linda!” The voice repeated over and over.
I shot up, off my pillow and looked into Nate’s blue worried eyes. I could feel sweat sticking to my hair, matting it against my forehead and clothes. I cursed myself for falling asleep.
“Yeah?” I asked, like nothing was wrong when it was obvious that something was definitely wrong.
“Don’t pretend nothing happened. You were screaming like a freaking... I don’t know... Cat getting its tail stepped on!” He shouted.
“Was not. And Jesus, keep your voice down. What time is it?”
“It’s five. Go back to sleep. I’ll stay here with you.”
“You don’t need to. I’m FINE.” I protested.
“No you’re not. GO TO SLEEP.” He argued.
“Alright, alright!” I faked a laugh.
I lay back down on my pillow, closed my eyes and pretended to sleep. Nate sat there, stroking my hair until he thought I was asleep. He left, leaving the door open. I heard his footsteps go down the stairs and opened my eyes. I stared at the ceiling, counting the glowing stars.
When I was young, I had nightmares too. My parents had put up those stars and the nightmares went away, faded back into my subconscious mind, never to return, or so I had hoped. A few years later, I had started to see them again. I stared at the stars for the rest of the morning.
I was not going to sleep in a while. A long while.
“See you Belinda. Remember, it’s at two!” Nate waved and walked out of my house. I shut the door, paced to my couch, fell on it and yawned.
Nate was really sweet and caring - behind that massive ego of course. Whenever his player friends had hit on me, he got really protective like the older brother I never had. However, he wasn't too overprotective and let me make my own choices, which was perfect.
I stayed there, on my couch watching TV until Iris came over at twelve, making sure I didn't fall asleep.
I opened the door and Iris appeared,carrying a massive box with all her make-up, and a really big bag.
“Help maybe?” She groaned, obviously looking like she was a little too small to be caryying such a gigantic pile of things.
“Oh right! What’s all this crap for?” I asked her, raising my eyebrow whilst helping her out.
“Oh, I hear my biology partners gonna be at the basketball game and he’s hot. So, yeah,” she grinned.
I gave out a sigh and chuckled. Typical, typical, typical. The amount of boyfriends she'd had was unbelievable. Trust me, I couldn't count the amount on my fingers and toes.
