Chapter 23: Meeting Dad

 Today is the day Mondo had to meet Taka's dad, Takaaki Ishimaru. Mondo was waiting outside of Taka's dorm. Although he doesn't seem like it, he was worried about what Taka's dad would think of him. But his wariness doesn't compare to Taka's; who was pacing around the room contemplating the many things that could happen.

'What if he doesn't like him and force us to break up? What if he arrests Mondo because he is the Crazy Diamond's leader? WHAT IF HE GETS OUT A GUN AND SHOOT HIM!?' Taka panicked silently.

Kiyondo was sitting on his bed, just watching his brother do laps around the room.

"You're really worried about this meeting huh?" Kiyondo asked. "I can tell by your face."

"Yes I'm worried! What if he doesn't like Mondo!? What would happen to our relationship!?" Taka yelled.

"Hey, calm down." Kiyondo said holding Taka by his shoulders. "If anything fucks up, it's his fault not yours. If he is really committed to this relationship, he will try his best to make our father like him."

"He is committed! He even dressed up more formally than usual!" Taka exclaimed. "I'm worried dad wouldn't like him because he's the biker gang leader!"

"Look, I'm your brother and I will be with you no matter what. Even when you have bad taste in men, I'll be by your side." Kiyondo said.

Mochi, seeing her human mom be so distraught came up to him while barking.

"Maybe we can bring your dog daughter with us." Kiyondo said noticing Mochi and picked her up.

"Will he allow a dog to be in his house!?" Taka asked.

"You've seen how happy he gets when he meets the police dogs at the station!" Kiyondo said and Mochi barked; even when she does not know human speech. "She could lighten up the meeting a bit."

"I hope... I'm just worried that he wouldn't accept Mondo..." Taka said.

"If he doesn't like him and you two had to break up so you become depressed and such, I'll be there to comfort you." Kiyondo said and Mochi barked. "...And Mochi too."

"Okay... Thank you bro... Let's get going now, we must not be late." Taka said going to the door to exit.

 Mondo greeted the twins and they all went to the parking lot, Taka and Mondo got on the motorbike.

"Are you going to ride with us Kiyo?" Mondo asked.

"No, the house isn't that far. I'll just run there and Mochi will go with me." Kiyondo said.

"Alright then, see you there." Mondo said before revving up the engine and taking off.

 After a few minutes they arrived at the house, Kiyondo could be seen at a distance with Mochi in his arms.

"Okay... Please don't swear or be rude at the dinner table." Taka told Mondo while waiting for his brother.

"I'll make sure I won't, I promise..." Mondo replied, Taka could see his genuineness in his eyes which made him glad. "You're house is pretty nice."

"Really? It's smaller than the others..." Taka said.

"It's small but it's nice. Bigger doesn't always mean better." Mondo said.

"I'm here!" Kiyondo yelled at the lovers, catching his breath while Mochi jumped out of his arms and into Taka's. "Let's get in now..."

 Taka put down Mochi, went up the steps of his front door, hesitated a bit and knocked on the door. He can hear faint footsteps approaching the door, the door opened up a there he was, Takaaki Ishimaru.

"Ah, hello Taka." Takaaki said pleased to meet his son after so long.

"Hello dad! I've brought M-Mondo with me!" Taka said moving to the side as Mondo went up the steps.

"Hi Mr. Ishimaru." Mondo said.

"Hello Mondo, it's nice to meet my son's boyfriend." Takaaki put out his hand for a hand shake, and Mondo obliged.

"Hey dad!" Kiyondo ran up the stairs shortly after with Mochi in his hands.

"Oh! What's this little one?" Takaaki said noticing Mochi and started to give her head scratches.

"This is Mochi! Your dog granddaughter!" Kiyondo answered while Mochi happily barks.

"You two already have a daughter? That was quick." Takaaki said looking at the lovers. "Now let's get inside for dinner, you all must be quite hungry."

 They all went to their separate seats; Takaaki sat at the end of the table while the others sat at the sides. Mondo took a seat next to Taka while Kiyondo pulled a seat for Mochi. Mondo could feel his body tense up, he couldn't mess this up. His and Taka's future could change drastically if his dad didn't approve of it. He kept a straight face but inside he was panicking; and so was Taka but it was more noticeable but no one said anything.

 They all just awkwardly ate while making some glances at eachother, the only one who wasn't was Mochi who was enjoying some sausages and meat balls. Takaaki decided to break the silence.

"So, Owada. How long have you've been dating my son?" Takaaki asked.

"We've been dating for about a year, sir." Mondo answered trying to be more formal than his normal speech.

"And how did you two meet?" He asked again.

"We met in the halls of the school. I accidently ran into him." The biker replied.

 He knew that Takaaki knew who he was; he was the leader of the most powerful biker gang in the nation. So he knew his view on him was already tarnished, so he had to make the best impression he could.

"Where did you two go for you first date?" Takaaki asked.

"Why, we went to a book café for our first date dad!" Taka answered quickly. "It went really well!"

 The meeting continued like that until it ends, Takaaki kept on asking questions which annoyed Mondo because most of the time he was the one who should answer but he bottled it up. Overall, it turned out better than Mondo had expected, Taka's dad seemed to be fine with them dating, although he could still see slight suspicion in his face. Who can blame him for that, his son is dating a biker gang leader.

 After that, the three teenagers and Mochi had to get back to school. They waved their goodbyes to Takaaki and went back to school the way they came. In the meantime, Taka and Mondo decided to have some small talk for a bit.

"That meeting went on better than I expected." Mondo started.

"Me too... I was so worried that he will hate you, since he's a cop and you're..." Taka responded, still holding on tight to the taller boy.

"Yeah... Thank god he seemed to like me. Who knows what would happen if he didn't..."

Soon, the two got back to school, parked the bike and went to their dorms, but not before waiting for Kiyondo.
