The VK's returned to Auradon feeling both hopeful and anxious about how they presented themselves to the Isle kids; all they could do was pray that they were able to make an impression on them. Only a few weeks after that, the entire school focused on the preparations for the seniors' final events as students of Auradon Prep: the Senior Dinner and their graduation. Unsurprisingly, practically everyone wanted Evie's 4 Hearts original pieces for these occasions. She became so busy creating gowns and suits that Doug had to step in to be her business manager. Almost every single day, her dorm room would be packed with students getting their fittings down while Doug typed away on a laptop to the side.
Although Meredith and Carlos wouldn't be graduating yet since they were a year younger than most of their friends, Evie insisted on making their outfits for both of the last two events. One afternoon, Meredith was lucky enough to squeeze in a fitting in the middle of Evie's other appointments. She entered the room with Lonnie by her side, and Evie quickly retrieved their respective dresses from one of the racks.
"I can't wait for you two to try these on," she gushed. "Meredith, I picked out this lace fabric for you. I think it's a simple yet elegant look that's just perfect for the dinner, and the pattern lowkey matches Carlos's outfit since his blazer has roses on them! I'm still working on your dress for graduation, though."
"It's amazing, Evie," Meredith praised, taking it into her hands. Even if she hadn't worn it yet, she could tell how beautiful it was. "I love it."
Evie beamed at her before turning to Lonnie and saying, "And for yours, I made sure to put pockets for your swords and a sheath for your bow and arrow. I wanted the gowns to be both fashionable and functional."
"Extraordinary!" Lonnie gushed. "I'll show my mom. Maybe she'll put in an order for the rest of the army."
Before Meredith could step away to fit her dress, Lonnie suddenly pulled her and Evie into a tight group hug.
"I'm going to miss you guys," Lonnie sighed. "I can't believe we're all going to be separated so soon."
"I know, I'll miss you too," Evie pouted.
"It's going to be weird not having you drag me around every day to pull some reckless stunt with you," Meredith nudged Lonnie.
"I'd like to think that the term 'daring' is more fitting than 'reckless,' but whatever floats your boat," she rolled her eyes playfully.
"We won't be too far away, right? You'll come visit?" Evie asked her.
"It's about a four-day carriage ride from the Imperial Palace to Auradon City," Lonnie replied — she finally decided to pursue R.O.A.R. professionally, so of course, she would have to move away from the city. "So, we can't just pop in. But yes, I'll definitely come visit."
"I'll visit you, too. And I'll bring Meredith along even if she has to skip class for it!" said Evie, causing them to all giggle. It was a nice thought, but it wouldn't be that easy. This phase of the seniors' lives — high school — was clearly coming to a close, and they were all heading their separate ways. Meredith knew that she would understand this better once she completed her senior year as well, but even if she was only a junior at the moment, it felt as if she was already going through the experience because her closest friends were the ones leaving so soon.
"Don't forget to visit Auradon Prep as well," Meredith reminded Evie. "I'm probably going to need more outfits from you even if you'll be working somewhere else."
"I'll never miss the opportunity to dress you up in something fancy!" the blue-haired girl replied. "We'll all be back tons — you'll just be sick of us."
