A/N: Not really happy with the shade of greenish blue I used to edit the dresses I found on Pinterest, but I tried 😅 Just imagine them in Meredith's usual green/blue color scheme HAHA

Meredith felt like nothing could dampen her spirits. She found out that she and Carlos held mutual feelings for one another, her outfit for the evening was perfect thanks to Evie, the boat looked spectacular (which was something she was particularly proud of because she was the head of the logistics committee for the event after all), and most importantly, she and Carlos had gone to the cotillion together.

Carlos felt just as happy, if not more than she did. His insides felt all mushy from a mixture of emotions because Meredith was by his side not just as his friend, but as his date. He had always found her pretty, even back when they first befriended one another, but tonight, she was stunning. He couldn't tell if that made him more excited or nervous, but either way, his brain was a mess. He didn't quite know how to act around her anymore, but her comforting smile and the way she easily sparked more conversations with him eased his worries. Perhaps being friends for quite some time before admitting their feelings was a good thing. They were already comfortable with one another, and this beginning of a new relationship was that extra step.

Meredith and Carlos arrived in time to see everyone already dancing to an upbeat song. They glanced at the clock and knew it would only be a matter of time until Mal made her entrance, followed by Ben.

The pair had barely gotten settled in when the trumpets started playing. They sent each other knowing looks before running closer to the center of the venue; Carlos was even holding her hand to guide her through the crowd. They came to a stop next to Evie and Doug, and even Jay and Lonnie who apparently decided to attend the dance together. They all exchanged excited glances as Lumiere finally made his announcement.

"The future Lady Mal!" he boomed. Mal stepped out into the light and the crowd gasped. She was clad in a royal blue and yellow gown with matching lace gloves and accessories, as well as a cape that flowed behind her. Despite her shockingly purple hair, she was somehow able to pull off the entire look, finishing it off with a braided hairstyle and small tiara atop her head. All in all, she was simply beautiful. She looked nervous, but Meredith knew that it must have taken a lot of bravery from her to be there at all.

"Whoo!" Evie began the cheers.

"Yeah, Mal!" Carlos followed. Eventually, everybody joined in cheering and clapping for her.

Lumiere helped Mal down the steps and gently moved her over to Beast and Belle. They spoke in hushed tones with one another, and though nobody could decipher what they were saying, it must have been all good things because they ended their conversation with smiles. Mal walked further down until she was met by her best friend.

"Hi," Mal said with a nervous laugh.

"Hi," Evie beamed, taking her hand. "How are you?"

"Uh, sort of feel like I'm gonna throw up," Mal admitted.
