The goblins Shadow (volume 1 of The Demon's Journey)

The duel

Shadow stood with his sword gripped in two hands, in front of him were the Female knight,  Heavy warrior, and Spearman. All silver level adventurers and a force to be reconned with, fortunately, thought Shadow so am I.

Spearman glanced to the left at Guild girl, Shadow saw this and smiled. Of course, he was trying to impress her.

Spearman rushed forward and tried to stab Shadow with his spear, Shadow stood still, raising his sword to strike. The spear neared and Shadow had a plan, He changed the composition of his chest to gas, allowing the spear to pass right through.

Spearman was shocked the spear went right through Shadow without any damage!  Shadow punched the spearman knocking him over, he raised his sword to attack but quickly dodged the incoming strike, Shadow backed up off the spear and quickly dodged out of the way of the incoming heavy sword.

Female knight charged Shadow laughing, While Heavy warrior helped Spearman up off the ground. She quickly sliced at Shadow who easily deflected her blade, She continued with her attack slicing, stabbing, in quick motion trying to find his weak points but he deflected every attack.

Then Shadow went on the offensive, his attacks were quick with some power behind them. Female knight had to back up to a defensive position, struggling to keep a hand on her sword. Shadow knew he had her on the ropes, but quickly turned when he heard armor clanking.

Heavy warrior swung with his sword, Shadow had to counter with his shield, Female knight saw her opening and sliced at Shadow, severing his sword arm. Shadow quickly turned and looked at Female knight who had stopped attacking, 

Shadow took a step forward away from Heavy warrior and headbutted Female knight dropping her to the ground.

Shadow was starting to get angry, He dodged Heavy warrior's next strike, Shadow rushed forward with his shield arm knocking Heavy warrior off balance, his arm already healing. Using the edge of the shield he hit Heavy warrior once, twice, three times. The third dropping him to the ground.

Shadow rotated and knocked a spear to the side using the shield. He then punched Spearman using his newly formed arm.

Guild girl thought this fight would be over quickly since shadow was fighting three silver ranked adventurers, but oh how she was wrong. Shadow wasn't just holding his own he was winning too!

Then she watched his arm be cut off and gasped in shock, this was just supposed to be a duel! But as Shadow proved, he could always have the advantage it just depended on the circumstances.

But as she watched the fight continue on she noticed two things, one Goblin slayer was standing next to her, which made her heart flounder, and two something odd was happening. Shadows severed arm had grown back, and the severed arm began to act strangely.

Tentacles grew out of it as another body began to regenerate out of the severed limb. She watched in amazement. This fight was just beginning

Shadow was having a blast, he hadn't fought this hard in a while. Shadow noticed the group had fallen back to plan, he saw his copy rise up off the ground silently form a hammer, and proceed to attack the group.

Spearman felt the hammer collide with his armor. They were stunned, "how are there two of them?" wondered Female knight. After attacking, the copy retreated towards Shadow, who was grinning. Shadows grin was really terrifying to them, it was wide with sharp teeth, and several other eyes had opened on the side of his face.

"Let's make this more interesting shall we?" said Shadow raising his sword, he sliced off his other arm, which grew into another copy.

"This is getting out of hand now there are three of them," said Spearman. getting into a defensive position.

But as the crowd watched each Shadow stated to change their appearances, as they watched, each Shadow turned into a perfect replica of the three people they were fighting, matching them to every detail.

The group was obviously very shocked by this, As they rushed forward to attack, the copies did the same, Each copy looked like the adventurers, they attacked with the same fighting styles, the only thing different about the copies was their color, and face.

Each copy was the same color as Shadow, pitch black. Their faces were really unsettling, each one mimicked Shadow's grin while having three eyes on each side, six in total.

10 minutes later, each fighter was on the ground at the mercy of their copy. Then each copy stopped, they backed up sheathed their weapons, and began liquefying.

Each copy melted and the liquid converged into one solid being. Shadow stood over the fallen adventurers and asked "Are you done?" to the three adventurers. They nodded, Shadow walked over to the Heavy warrior offered his hand, and helped him up.

People were surprised pf Shadow's actions he was acting a lot kinder than they expected he was helping up the people he just fought. Shadow offered to help Female knight, but she waved him away and got up herself.

The silver ranked adventurers stared at Shadow not with fear but with respect, as he chatted with Heavy warrior, and returned the spear to its proper owner.

Sword maiden stood outside on her balcony, she had sensed a great disturbance out in the wild and her fear was confirmed when she felt the disturbance near Goblin slayer, She knew she must call for him immeadetly, maybe he could bring along this thing as well.

Sword maiden walked out to the main throne room of her master, she kneeled in front of him, as she heard him near. The man wore robes with long golden streams, his hair was blond and long. He claimed he was a messenger from God, and quickly rose to power using his miracles.

"Have you located the disturbance?" said the messenger putting his hand on Sword maiden's head. "Yes my lord, and I have sent for a friend to bring him to you." 

Angel smiled and walked back to sit on his throne, Soon Shadow would be dead, and there would be no problems.
