The goblins Shadow (volume 1 of The Demon's Journey)

Ends and beginnings

Shadow fell to his knees, unmoving,time seemed to slow down, his spear fell and it made a clanking noise.

Shadow's mind raced, trying to process the information. Dead? What did he mean dead? The rest of his memories came racing back as Shadow sat there, tears forming.

Jack and Kira were sitting in the lawn playing together they he watched as Kira tried to shape shift into a squirrel. She was partly successful, she grew ears and a tail, and that's as about it. Jack and Kira laughed at the failure to shape-shift.

Jack was walking home from school, he saw two guys pick on Kira he walked over to them about to yell, but he watched as Kira kneed him in the balls and push him over. Jack stopped and was stunned

Jack sat at home watching a movie, when he heard the door slam, he looked over and saw Kira in a dress, crying and running into her room. Jack followed her as she slammed the door. Sighing Jack sat down leaning his back against the door. "So I'm guessing the dance didn't go well." He heard her crying on the other side. "If it makes you deal any better, my date said no," Jack said sighing again. "Here." Jack said sliding a movie, and a packet of chocolate underneath the the door. "Now I know you want your space, but know that I'm here for you." Jack said getting up from the door.

Jack knew he was in trouble, bullies had him cornered and he was pretty sure a rib was broken. He watched as they neared him with a terrible grin. Kira yelled at the end of the ally. "Hey! What are you doing?!" She rushed forward about to shape shift. But one of the guys grabbed her by the neck. Jack watched in horror as the bully began tearing off her clothes. Jack felt the rage built up inside him his eyes turned blood red. He stood up not being noticed by the men. The darkness swirled around Jack changing him to Shadow. Kira saw this and her eyes widened. Shadow grabbed one man by the head and slammed into a wall cracking the bricks. Shadow punched another in the jaw knocking them out, and for the final one Kira kicked him the stomach then round-house kicked him in the head.

Jack was going to kill him. First, he disappears with his sister, then he declares him a villain. Jack was going to kill him. He saw as he approached the building, an army came to great him.
Jack felt his rage increasing as he shifted to shadow form. As the army attacked, Shadow built up the rage inside him, he roared and bent backward, tentacles exploded out of his body as he morphed into a black ball.
The tentacles went right through the army they grew in size and power, the army was smashed, grabbed, and thrown, Shadow retracted the tentacles and morphed out of the ball. He tried to step forward and stumbled. "Doing that took a lot out of me." Said Shadow. He watched as a screen moved around the building. On it was Angel speaking, "Damn it, I need to hurry." Said Shadow running towards the building.
That bastard had his sister and he was going to get her back.
Shadow shifted into dragon form and flew up towards the rooftop, as he neared a powerful force collided with him, making Shadow crash. Pissed off Shadow morphed back and summoned a spear in one hand and a sword in the other. "Come on then! I know your there!" Shadow said taunting who ever was there.
On que a man flew up from the side of a building his cape rustling in the wind. The man landed and spoke "you are trying to kill our savior, I cannot allow you to do that." The man said robotic like. "They got you too huh?" Shadow said flipping his sword so the blade was pointing down. The man charged to punch him. Shadow dodged left and stabbed the man in the arm. He yelled in pain he flew off with the sword still in his arm.
The man grimaced at the wound and looked at  Shadow. Shadow tossed his spear to the side and opened his arms wide taunting the flying man. "Come on! give me your best shot!" Shadow said shouting at the flying man already forming a shield on his arm.
The man furrowed his brow as his eyes began to glow, a green laser shot out from them, firing towards Shadow. Shadow got into a defensive position, and raised his shield at an angle.
The laser connected with the shield and reflected back, Before the man could react he felt searing pain on his face. He fell from the sky and landed on the building. Jack walked up to the man who was in a kneeling position with a burnt face.
As he looked up he saw Shadow stand over him. Shadow yanked the sword out of the mans arm. "You deserved better. Shadow said decapitating the man, he didn't even know his name.
Jack busted down the door to the roof descending down the stairs, he saw the room he needed to enter. In the way was a small group of people who drew their guns, and blades.
Shadow summoned a sword the first man rushed while the rest fired their guns. The man raised his knife Shadow grabbed his hand, spun and slashed his body in two.
Shadow then threw the sword at another man, impaling him in the head the bullets were either missing him or going right through him as Shadow changed his body's state of matter.
Jack summoned a spear and knocked aside the gun of the man in front of him. Shadow impaled the man with the back of the spear, going straight through the mouth. Shadow pulled it out and sliced into the skull of the man in front of him.
Shadow stoped and took a breather he picked up his sword and continued, he heard a scream and ran.
Shadow ran through a door, and saw a woman on the ground, "No, no, no, no!" Shadow ran to his sisters aid, and quickly put a hand to her neck.
No pulse. "NO!" Yelled Shadow. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Yelled Shadow at Angel. "What I must." Angel said wiping off the bloody dagger. Angel lunged at Shadow with the dagger, Shadow grabbed him by the face, and held him there.
"What. Did. You. Do." Shadow said to Angel. "Your already too late. The process is complete. I am every where." Angel said summoning a blast of light throwing Shadow back.
"And now you die." Angel said stabbing himself in the heart. He fell forwards, driving it in further.
Shadow fell to his sisters corpse, the face of Shadow retracted to reveal a crying Jack. He cried over his dead sister's corpse. Jack couldn't believe this was happening he put his head in his hands and continued to cry.
Jack felt an explosion, he stood up and slowly walked to the window, Jack wasn't fully transformed when he saw it. He watched as the moon fell from the sky, creating a wall of fire. Jack didn't care, he turned around went back to his sisters corpse and sat down again.
As he sat there waiting for the end, he felt a force pull him from where he sat, he was pulled through the ceiling, through the roof, higher and higher as he watched the wall of fire surround the planet.
"NOOOOO!" Shadow screamed as he watched the building be encompassed in fire. He continued to be pulled upward into space.
As he watched, the planet became a ball of destruction, nothing left.
There Shadow was floating through space. He watched as a portal formed before him. Not having many options Shadow went through.

Jack woke up from his trance Shadow had left his head in transformed. A tear rolled down his cheek, he remembered everything.

"Ah, so you do remember" Angel said standing at the top of the stairs. Jack looked at him, all the sadness he felt was gone. All he felt was rage.

Shadow stood he picking up his spear. He threw the spear at Angel. "Bastard!" Shadow shouted.

"Please Jack we are both men of great power, surely we can negotiate something?" Angel said with a smile on his face. "You kill my sister, destroy my planet, AND YOU EXPECT ME TO NEGOTIATE?!" Shadow yelled his voice becoming more and more demon-like.

"No then? A pity." Angel said feathered-wings sprouting from his back. He fired a beam of light at Shadow, he countered with a blast of soul fire.

As Angel rose higher and higher with his wings. Wings tore through the back of Shadow, they were more reptilian as he made another spear he charged at Angel.

The ensuing fight was one to be remembered, they traded attacks, Shadow gaining the advantage with his spear.

Angel fell to the ground, one of his wings being sliced off. "While you were here." Shadow motioned to the throne room. "Growing fat. I was training, I didn't know why but I knew there was another reason why I was here." Shadow said grabbing angels hair, he held the blade to Angel's throat.

"Now answer my question how are you here? I watched you die." Angel just laughed at his question. "When I killed your sister, it allowed me to spread my conscience across dimensions, every version of me got my conscience inserted inside their mind allowing me to take over." Angel said laughing "I would have been immortal, if I killed you, my conscience in every dimension."

"Why would you do this, you are the literal recantation of an Angel, you could have made world peace, United everyone, but you became a killer, and a fanatic."

Shadow changed back into Jack. "Now you die." Jack drove the spear straight into his neck killing him.

Jack changed back into Shadow, walking towards the door. He took one look back at the corpse and turned back around.

As he exited the room, the rest of the party looked towards him with happiness. Shadow opened his mouth to speak when he felt the same pulling sensation as before.

Shadow looked to the right and saw a portal forming, he was being pulled towards it. Suddenly Shadow was being yanked towards it. He yelled for help as Goblin slayer rushed forward.

He grabbed onto Shadow's hand as he was being pulled, now his legs were floating. Shadow stabbed his sword into the ground to try to stay put but it didn't matter.

Shadow tried to resist but was pulled anyways he slipped from Goblin slayers grasp as he and his sword flew through the portal.

Doing it's job the portal dissipated leaving nothing behind.
