The Blue Chair

I hadn't heard the lilting melody coming off of the guitar strings pause in awhile. That meant he was either stuck on where to go next, or he was finished and playing for fun. Hedging my bets, I followed my heart and let my feet carry me out to where he was sitting barefoot on the blue Adirondack chair facing the fields off the back porch of the cabin we had rented to "just get away" for a bit. His hair tie was around his wrist and his hair tumbled in gentle waves around his shoulders telling me that he had frustratingly run his hands through the mane more than once. His songwriting process was fascinating to me. As was the fact that I knew his little habits and quirks. I don't think he heard me approach as my footsteps carried me directly in front of him.

"How's it going?", I asked as I met his closed gaze.

"I'm stuck. And I have been for awhile."

"Maybe you need a break," I said gently taking the guitar out of his hands and placing it in the case next to the chair. He must have agreed because he let me. He reached his arms out and grabbed onto my waist and pulled me into his lap.

Laying his head on my shoulder he sighed deeply. "I don't think this one wants to be written," he said, defeated.

"Give it time, love," I answered running my fingertips over his scalp and through his hair. I felt the tension in his body ease with just that simple action. He wrapped his arms tighter around my waist and just held me for a minute.

"How did I get so lucky?", he asked into my neck.

Turning to face him and straddling his lap, I brushed his unruly waves behind his ears and smiled.

"I'm the lucky one." I didn't give him a chance to argue. I leaned my face down to his and captured his lips with mine. And just like that, a switch flipped.

He took over and I let him. The hands at my waist gripped the hem of my t-shirt and pulled it up over my head. He pulled away from my lips long enough to let the garment pass and to assure me that we were out in the middle of nowhere. With a growl, he attacked my neck, scraping with his teeth and following with his tongue. His hands slipped up my ribs and behind my back. His nimble fingers unhooked my bra and he slid his fingers up to my shoulders and eased the straps down my arms and discarded the cloth. His fingers found the flesh they craved as goosebumps rose on my skin. I was unable to differentiate if they were caused by the cool breeze or the adventurous hands on my chest. His mouth found my nipple and brought it to a hard peak. Making sure not to neglect it's twin, he repeated the action. In that moment i decided that he had far too many clothes on. I pushed the unbuttoned plaid shirt off of his shoulders. He pulled his arms out of the sleeves as I slipped my hands under the hem of his t-shirt to touch skin. He grabbed the hem and pulled it up over his head to give me full access. I pressed my body close to his until we were chest to chest. I could feel the steady, yet quick beat of his heart as I found his lips again. Placing kisses along his jawline, up to his ear, I gently nipped his earlobe to hear the moan that I knew would slip out. There was something exciting being like this, in the open air, in the middle of nowhere.

He latched back onto my neck and hummed against my collarbone and once again a switch flipped. He sat straight up and just about dropped me on my ass on the ground. Grabbing his guitar and his notebook, he found the chords he was looking for and the lilting melody found it's end. Slipping his button up over my shoulders, I gathered the discarded clothing and headed back inside.

Calling over my shoulder, "I told you it would come, and if you want to, you know where to find me." I went upstairs to wait for him to find me.
