-New beginnings-
The trip back to Fablehaven was a long one, mostly because Seth had to go see the singing sisters about a deal he made but couldn't remember. Which sounded like a very bad thing but apparently, Seth had been able to work out something new with them and he "would tell her about it later".
But Kendra was now back at Fablehaven and her family was throwing a party. It was fun, but Kendra needed a break from all the people. So she went on a walk to the hidden pond.
When she got there, it was almost surreal, it had been so long since she had been there.
"You're not running away again are you?" A voice said from behind Kendra, it was Bracken.
"No, I just wanted to go on a walk, that's all."
"Yeah, I get it," He said, stepping up onto the gazebo Kendra was in, "I brought this, I thought you might want to get rid of it," Bracken held up the unicorn necklace.
"Oh, I definitely want to get rid of it, give it here," Kendra said, taking the necklace from Bracken.
Then she threw it into the pond.
"You're giving it to the naiads?" Bracken asked.
"Yeah, I figured nobody is going to be able to get it down there,"
"True," Bracken said as Kendra took his hand and pulled him to her. "I was thinking about asking you something,"
"Well then ask away,"
"I'm not sure if it's too soon,"
"No, you're thinking that if you don't ask you won't have to deal with a problem,"
"Technically, it's not a problem,"
"Then ask."
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He said it so fast Kendra almost asked him to say it again, but she knew what he said, and she knew the answer.
"Yes," Kendra said, then she kissed him, and he kissed her back. It had been so long since Kendra had felt safe but she finally did in his arms.
When the kiss ended, the new couple set off to the house to rejoin the party, and spend some time just being happy.
