Liam Payne
"Hey mum." I smiled as I walked into her kitchen. I kissed her cheek.
"Liam. I'm glad to see you. Please sit." She ushered as she stirred the soup cooking on the stovetop. I sat down on one of the steel chairs, "What's wring?"
"I just want t make sure you know what you're doing, Liam."
"With? I'm kind of in the dark."
"Scarlett." I rolled my eyes, "I just want you to be happy."
"And I am."
"Liam, she's not ready to be tied down. You too may be 'dating' but the truth in the matter is the second she even smells the slightest trace of smoke, she'll run. And you will be left alone to put out the fire. I care about you Liam. I am your mother and frankly, I think you should focus on running the company, not worrying about Scarlett."
"Well," My jaw tightened, "Good thing I didn't ask you what you thought. I am going to do what I want. And if you don't like it I'm sorry. But I hope you will learn to respect my wishes."
She sat a bowl of soup in front of me, "Maybe you should do what's right and not what you want, Liam James. I will not have you disrespect me in my own home. You may do as you wish but I warn you, don't get to attached to her. She's a runner. And she always will be."
I snorted, "How would you know that?"
She sat down across from me with soup, "I was her. I still am her. I ran away when I was in my sixteenth year. I wanted to go to New York, and be a star. See my name on every billboard, but my parents did not believe in me. So I ran away after my and my mum got in a fight. Liam, I have been Scarlett on many occasions. I ran away from your father on our first date. I was too scared to even hold his hand. I ran when I found out he died. Scarlett and I aren't that much different. We're more alike than you think."
I took a sip of soup, thinking about this. "So you think she'll run out on me?"
"I know you think too much of people but I don't. I do like Scarlett but I don't want to believe it but Liam," She placed her hand on top of mine, "She will. Maybe you should light the fire to see if she'll stay."
"I think you're right."
Niall Horan
I was walking to Holly's apartment because she told me she wanted to talk. She moved out last week, saying how we aren't dating and there's no point living together because we'll just awkward about everything.
Maybe she had a point, or maybe she didn't. Either way, there was still hope for Scarlett and I. Hopefully.
The cold air rushed past me, causing me to shiver. People were almost non-existent today. Even was inside to shelter from the cold.
I took a deep breath once I had reached Holly's door. I raised my hand up and knocked against the wood.
"One minute!" I heard her yell as she undid the locks. The door opened, warm air embraced me. "Niall, it's freezing, you'll catch a cold. Get in here." She said. My eyes flew to her stomach, it was bigger than the last time I saw her. The baby would be due in five months.
I smiled as I walked in, the door closed behind me. Her apartment was small and bright. "You like? My mum chose this place, due to the hospital down the road and there's no stairs and everything that I need is in walking distance. Even you."
"She's good at picking out apartments." I said clearly not addressing the last part. "What did you need to talk about?"
She walked to the kitchen, and poured tea into two cups. "Well, there's a few things we need to finish talking about."
She handed me my cup, "Thanks. I smiled. "Like what?"
"I talked to an adoption agency yesterday. They'd be willing to take her if you-" I zoned out. Adoption agency? That would mean I'd never get to see her again. That she would call some other guy Daddy. Someone else would get to hear her laugh for the first time. Someone would get to watch her grow up.Someone else would scare the guy who comes to take her on her fist date. Someone else would walk her down the aisle. More importantly, someone else would love her like she was their own.
"No." I interrupted Holly.
"What?" She was taken back.
"Holly, Do you remember what happened at the ultrasound? I told you I wanted to keep her. You said I could have full parental rights and now you're calling some agency? That's bullshit."
"Niall, please understand. I can't deal with this anymore. I just want for her to grow up not knowing that her mother didn't love her nor want her. And don't act you even care about her."
"You will not do this, Holly. All I'm asking you is to let me have her. Don't give her to some family. I want to be there for her." I said.
"Niall, if we put her up for adoption then we can put this all behind us."
I sat my tea down and stood up, "You can put it all behind you. But there's no way in hell Holly that you will take her away from me. I swear to God, Holly, if you give her away without my consent-"
"You'll what?" She demanded.
"Just don't do it. Let me have her. She's my kid too."
