Sunghoon ended up staying the night at Jake's house. Hyuna, for the first time, experienced great euphoria as she texted her soulmate. Jake was happy for his sister, and hoped she felt the same happiness he felt with Sunghoon. Meeting your soulmate was a feeling of great happiness, and Hyuna finally got to experience it. Happiness always made Jake happy.
He had finished washing up, so Jake scurried over to his bedroom, where Sunghoon was waiting. He dropped his body on the bed and an immediate smile overcame Sunghoon's expression as he moved his arm to rest on Jake's abdomen. Jake's warmth was accelerated by the warmth of his shower and Sunghoon felt pure comfort in his arms.
However, he had news.
"Love," Sunghoon began, earning Jake's attention. "Uhm... my parents are coming a few days from now, and they don't know that I've met you yet. I'm scared to let you meet them because, well... they're of ice. I'm not sure if they're okay with... you know... me being with you. In case any difficulties arise, can I... can I come to you?"
"What kind of question is that?" Jake asked incredulously as he sat up. "Of course you can. I'm more than your soulmate — I'm your safe space. I'm your home. Come to me when anything happens to you. I'll keep you happy and safe."
Sunghoon smiled, sitting up as well and crossing his legs as he faced Jake. He took Jake's hands in his own and gently stroked his soft skin with his thumbs, a gentle smile decorating his handsome features. "You... you're too precious for this world. I honestly don't deserve you. To be honest, at some point, I questioned if we were really soulmates. I doubted that someone as perfect as you could truly be destined to be with me. But then you smile, and that same warmth fills me from head to toe. That's when I know... that you're mine."
Jake smiled, lifting a hand to push loose strands of Sunghoon's hair behind his ear. "You're more perfect than the day I met you." He suddenly grinned, making Sunghoon look away shyly. "Wow, is this really what it feels like to be in love? Is this really what love feels like?"
Sunghoon was quiet, thinking to himself for a moment before nodding. "Yeah — I think it's love."
Jake's heart was pounding in his chest. His words no longer escaped his lips. Sunghoon felt similarly, and he was tongue-tied. He couldn't bring himself to say it just yet, but they both wanted him to say it. But he couldn't.
Why?
Because he stil had that innate fear of disappointing Jake.
"Sunghoon," Jake said softly, "you... l-love me... right?"
Sunghoon nodded. "Of course."
Jake's cheeks were burning as he looked away, afraid to make eye contact with the black-haired boy. He scraped together as much courage as he could before taking Sunghoon's hands in his own again, holding them tightly. "I want to run away with you. One day. I want to love you with more than my words. I... I want to feel the love. I want to create warmth with you — not just share it. One day, I want to run away with you and we can start a life together. Just the two of us. S-Sunghoon, I... I love you."
Sunghoon didn't know how to respond. Jake wasn't worried at all, because he knew Sunghoon felt just as passionate as he did. Loving gazes met one another, heartbeats in unison and shared body heat. It's what they wanted to experience forever, but their hesitance overpowered their need to stay in each other's arms. But Jake decided to be brave, and say those words.
Sunghoon wanted to be brave as well.
"Jake, be my boyfriend."
The Australian smiled, nodding immediately to show confirmation. Sunghoon felt a much more overwhelming warmth fill him, and completely overtake the last bit of ice remaining within him. As much as he wanted to keep that 'ice prince' reputation, Jake had completely thawed his ice cold heart. He felt nothing but sheer love for the boy before him.
"I feel like something should come after this, but I have no idea what," Sunghoon chuckled, looking down at their intertwined hands shyly. Jake seemed to put two and two together and raised his body slightly, getting onto his knees before Sunghoon.
"I think I know what comes after," Jake said. Sunghoon could tell that Jake was nervous, and so was he. Jake gulped down his nervousness before leaning forward and placing their lips together. The grip on each other's hands released as Jake put his arms on Sunghoon's shoulders. Sunghoon momentarily had no idea where to put his hands, but found a resting spot for them on Jake's waist.
The kiss was gentle, sweet and — of course — warm. Gentle tenderness and shy hands met their bodies, filling them with that same warmth Sunghoon loved so much. Their breathing synchronized in that moment, and they truly felt as one. Sunghoon tugged Jake forward by his waist, making him clash rather messily against him. Jake released a sound of discomfort and moved away again, but Sunghoon was having none of it.
Sunghoon pulled away, gently telling Jake to lie down on the bed. Jake complied and Sunghoon loomed above him, putting a hand to Jake's cheek before kissing him lovingly once more. Sunghoon moved his hand downwards from Jake's cheek, resting it on his waist again as they shared heat. There was a certain comfort surrounding them as Jake trusted that they wouldn't take things too far.
Just yet.
Sunghoon placed gentle, split-second kisses to Jake's lips, whispering sweet nothings against them. His words, while rather faint, were still filled with love. Jake loved him — he loved Sunghoon. His soulmate, his boyfriend — his love. He knew what they had was like no other, but even so, he couldn't guarantee that they'd be together forever and ever. Even soulmates fall out of love, or they lose each other to unknown causes — be it death or a secret lover. But Jake would always love Sunghoon regardless, because he'd never leave.
Right?
