Morning arrived, and the sun was shining through their cloud-like prison for the first morning in a long time. It was as if the heavens knew that it was Park Sunghoon's birthday, and displayed a moment of good graces, and awoke the sleeping pair with some beautiful golden rays of early morning joys. Jake was the first to awaken, and Sunghoon a moment after.

"Happy birthday, ice prince," Jake said softly, a smile on his lips. Sunghoon smiled, putting his head down on Jake's shoulder as he muttered a faint 'thank you'. "Are you still tired?"

"A little," Sunghoon croaked out, laughing after clearing his throat. He sat up straight and stretched his arms above his head, scratching his side as he yawned. "God, it's so early. What time is it?"

"Barely 8:30," Jake replied as he lifted his phone. He sighed, putting it down. Sunghoon frowned, picking up Jake's phone and glancing at the lock screen.

"Is this Kim Doyoung?"

Jake looked at Sunghoon's shocked expression and had to resist laughing. "He's my favourite member, okay? Don't get jealous or anything."

"I'm not jealous," Sunghoon muttered, "but we've been dating for a bit, and I'm not your wallpaper. Heck, you're my wallpaper."

"I am?" Sunghoon nodded, picking up his phone and showing his lock screen for a mere moment, revealing Jake's back as he worked at his desk. Jake's cheeks tinted a soft red and for a split second, he felt guilty for having a K-Pop idol as his lockscreen. "Well, I don't have any photos of you."

"Then today, we can take some photos," Sunghoon said, standing up from the bed. "I trust that you'll make today the best birthday ever for me?"

Jake smiled as he nodded. "The best day ever."

The morning brightness didn't last long, however, as the everlasting greyness of above was more overbearing than the sun's rays. However, the day provided mild to mostly cloudy weather, and the atmosphere was much better than the past few days. The train ride added to that peaceful ambiance, the gentle tremor of the carriages putting them in some type of mood that could only be described as comfort.

"It's been a long time since I physically left home," Sunghoon hummed, looking out the window at the passing ocean. "I usually order my groceries and stuff online. It actually feels a little strange."

"I don't usually go out either," Jake nodded, "but it feels good to go out once in a while."

"Are you okay with this, by the way?" Sunghoon suddenly asked, gesturing their intertwined hands. "I'm not sure if you're comfortable, since you get embarrassed so quickly by this."

"Well, because it's your birthday, I'm letting it slide," Jake smiled, flicking Sunghoon's hand with his finger. "Besides, for how loving we normally are, I'm surprised we don't hold hands more often."

"Although we cuddle a lot," Sunghoon hummed, looking out the window for a moment. His eyes flicked to the sky, covered in light grey and subtle patches of pretty blue and his expression shifted slightly. "The approaching winter really had to ruin everything, huh…?"

"I actually enjoy the cold," Jake said quickly with a smile. "Australia was always in permanent summer, so it was always hot and dry. I love the cold, it's so different from Australia."

Sunghoon looked at Jake and sighed. "Maybe so, but it's still pretty sucky. It's ruining my birthday, too. How cruel."

"But we'll still enjoy today," Jake told him, resting his head on Sunghoon's shoulder. The train suddenly jerked to a stop and the doors opened. Sunghoon and Jake stood up, getting out the train and immediately shivered at the cold. Thankfully, they both wore thick padded jackets to block out any of the cold. The station was above ground, which was much different from the usual subway stations. They bowed to the lonely security guard on the platform, and he greeted them in return with a warm smile.

"More people of ice exist than of warmth, so it's refreshing to see someone of fire," Sunghoon smiled as they walked along to the interior building to process their tickets. "It's an icy world, and compliance is a sickness. There's not enough warmth to go around."

"But that's why I'm here in your life," Jake smiled. "To make at least your life better. I hope I'm succeeding?"

Sunghoon could only smile fondly as he nodded. "Definitely succeeding. So, my sweet angel, what are we doing today?"

"First," Jake began, swinging their hands playfully, "we're going to Fever — it's a brunch restaurant I found on Mango. Then, after that, we're going to Gonggi, which is a dessert cafe. The last place were going to is Nannal for ice coffee, or whatever you want to get. Hyuna noona already ordered a cake from a bakery cafe, so we'll be eating cake at home. From there, we can do whatever you want, I have a budget of ₩100,000."

"That's a lot of money."

"All for you, baby."

Sunghoon laughed slightly, bumping Jake with his shoulder. "Shush, you're so embarrassing. 'Baby' doesn't suit me like it suits you."

"You're just a big baby."

"Your big baby."

Jake giggled slightly, once again swinging their hands. "You're impossible to predict, really. I barely know you, yet I feel like I know you inside and out."

"Soulmates are weird, Jake — I thought we figured that out already."

Hyuna lifted her hands from her keyboard at the sound of the custom ringtone she had put on her phone for her soulmate. She smiled, picking up her phone and immediately answering. "Hey, Jay. What's up?"

"Noona, are you available right now?"

"Hmm, I'm busy sending parcel notification e-mails to patrons right now, but I think I'll be done within the hour," Hyuna hummed. "Why? Is something wrong?"

"I just finished up with the animals — I wanted to spend the day with you."

Hyuna frowned slightly — his tone was weird, a bit softer than he'd usually talk to her. "Uhm… sure. Should I get you half-way?"

"Oh, no, I'll be fine. Finish up your work, I'll see you in a bit." They said their goodbyes and Hyuna hung up first. She was quiet for a moment before sighing softly and returning to her work on her laptop. Jay was being a bit weird, and the disappating warmth in her chest proved so.

Just to be safe, she stood up, picking up her hormone pills and putting them in her dresser.
