The Villain

The defining force that antagonizes your hero. The villain's motivations create the crisis for the hero. They're usually introduced with a bang, sending the reader a clear message that they're malicious. However, they still need to be a thoughtful character with their own sense of morality and believable reasons for being evil.

Sa madaling sabi, villains are the enemies of the hero, sila iyong mga kontrabida, mga antagonist, iyong mga panira sa magandang istorya. Ano bang pakay nila? Of course, to challenge the protagonists to a battle. Maraming subgenre ang thriller kaya nakadepende roon kung ano ang katauhan ng villain mo, maaaring isa lang, maaaring marami tulad ng mga zombie at iba pa.
Mayroong mga pagkakataon na ang villain ang main protagonist sa isang istorya? Isn't that a mistake, is it? No. Halimbawa na lamang ang pelikulang Anabelle, isa sa mga genre noon ay thriller, papasok siya sa horror-thriller. Alam naman nating lahat na si Anabelle ang bida roon, isang manikang may cursed. To think about this, hindi rin laging hero o good side iyong main character, minsan 'yong mga villain pa, and yes it's possible. It's not impossible as long as everything, everyone, would get a justice. Now, what do I mean about justice?
However, they still need to be a thoughtful character with their own sense of morality and believable reasons for being evil. Hindi dahil villain ka, masama lang ang dating mo. Everyone was born good, so everything happens for a reason. Give your villains a side story pero hindi masiyadong mapagtutuunan ng pansin sa istorya (kung hindi villain ang main character). I mean, bakit ba siya masama? Bakit siya pumapatay? Paano siya naging gano'n? Saan nagsimula iyong mga masasamang ginagawa niya? Sino ang nag-udyok o ang dahilan kung bakit siya nagkaganoon? Just ask yourself the W questions, hindi lang dapat iyong heroes ang may flashback o side story.
Villains need to understood, too, because sometimes, the oh-so-good people are what makes them bad. You better watch the movie of Joker for further understanding.
