Lily sighed as she watched James and Regulus talking under a tree nearby. They were at the lake, it being a clear, warm spring day. They were the only ones around. Everyone else was too busy studying. Lily had already studied as much as she could, and decided to take a walk down to the lake. That's how she ended up staring at the couple, who were oblivious to her presence. Lily looked away as James tucked a lock of Regulus hair behind his ear. She was glad that James was happy, but it still hurt. It hurt that she would never be the one to make him smile like that with that look in his eyes. She knew she did the right thing helping them get together. She didn't realize how much she loved James, until she saw him with someone else. Lily stood up, and walked away, tears in her eyes. She scolded herself. 'Get it together Lily! You are not going to cry over a boy!" She wiped her eyes, and straightened her shoulders. She would learn to get over him eventually, but for now, she would dream of what could have been.
