"Don't trust too much. Don't love too much. Don't hope too much, because that too much can hurt you so much."
*************BASH'S POV****************
I couldn't seem to take my eyes off of the red runner. Curiosity got the best of me. I ran with all strength I had, jumping from one roof to another carefully finding my way to it and passing the chasing guards on my way.
I was the fastest in the Kingdom, people at court said its a gift but I beg to differ.
The runner was fast. Almost as fast as me. And clever too, running in different directions, under and overs shops, in and out of nearby alleys, trying to confuse the chase. But I knew better. Running as fast as my feet could take me o followed her lead and ended up slowing down in a dark alley but I quickly hid myself behind the wall.
"They couldn't keep up with me anyways." A melodic voice said with a light laugh.
"You got that wrong." I said coming out of the shadows facing the voice.
The runner turned to face me with surprise and in the mean time the cloth covering its face fell off.
It was a girl. Her eyes were so captivating, enclosed with several emotions. Her hair was tied up high. She had well defined cheeks and a long neck but the fullness of her surprised lips played its role in distracting me immensely. I had never seen someone like her before. She was painfully beautiful.
"How? How did you even-" she began but I stopped her.
"Im Bash." I said without thinking. And a second later embarrassment towered over me.
"Why did you follow after me and HOW did you do so!?" She asked with a hint of disbelief seeping into her words.
"I was just simply curious to as why the guards were following you. Or more like trying to anyway."
"EXACTLY!! If they couldn't catch up to me then how did you!? it's impossible!" She conveyed.
"Your not the only fast runner out here. I can run fast too." But that didn't seem to faze the least bit of her. "And what do you mean by impossible?" I asked.
"This doesn't make any sense, there's no one faster than me, and the ones who are, are my ki-" She stopped herself midsentence as if she was about to spill a secret out.
"Who are you?" She asked
"I just told you I'm Bas-"
"No." She said cutting me off. "I mean who are you really." She asked eying my clothing.
"Oh. I'm the Heir to the throne. Sebastian Ashworth, second son of King Gaius. Why? Are you OK?"
The girl had a look of horror in her wide eyes that turned into annoyance as it started to pour again, soaking her and me as well. She looked taken aback by my answer. "What do you control?" She inquired. I looked at her in confusion, " What do mean?"
She straightened her well defined posture and looked at me with seriousness making her look like a predator, " I'm going to ask you once again, and you are going to answer me without lying to my face. Who are you?" She menacingly took a few steps towards me, and I stumbled back a little. "I told you-"
She growled and roughly pushed me against the wall, "I told you to tell me the truth."
Her eyes were burning with unusual fire dancing in them. Clouded by fear my eyes widened.
Suddenly It had stopped raining and we both were drenched head to toe pressed up together against the wall, she yanked me hard by my collar towards her bringing my face closer, my breath was getting quick and my heart was racing fast and I was trying to answer her question thinking deeply about what did she mean about me controlling something, confusion kept building up in heaps as her hand curled up to a fist and hit me hard on the side of my head making me feel drowsy and cold as I hit the ground with a thud. My eyes fluttering close, fighting to stay awake.
"You asked for it" was all I heard as my mind slipped into oblivion.
