Almost two months have passed. Dream had continued to go to M.E. headquarters, finally getting a concrete photo of the document he needed about a week ago, and he was going to explore the whereabouts of the person that the fingerprints lead to. In work, it seems like no one really seemed to catch on to Dream's break-ins. There's a few times Antfrost says how some of his papers are more crumpled than he thought they were, but besides that, it was fine. Dream and George also decided to bond more and more, Dream finally finishing a song George taught and George more about combat. He still couldn't come on missions, but he was definitely getting better.
One day, Dream decided to take George out to a restaurant, in an attempt to bond a bit more.
"How that'll be lovely!" George responded when Dream gave him the offer, "Anyways, I don't think I've been out for weeks!"Dream chuckled and they both went on Spirit into town. Spirit made a huff about having two people on his back again, but adjusted to it by the time they got into the plaza. In the stone-bricked plaza, there were plenty of people here. Karl Jacobs now did stand up comedy in the nearby plaza every other day. Captain Puffy, a legendary retired pirate, was sewing a scarf on a nearby bench. The local kids Tommy and Tubbo were playing tag, racing around the fountain, with Tommy's brother, Wilbur, watching over them. The town was lively and, for once, Dream he name'saw the town through truly optimistic eyes, seeing the joys and liveliness of the town and not the crime and cruelty behind it.
Finally, they got the main eatery of town, "Fundy's Family Diner". The name's extremely ironic, as the diner's known for its good wine, even though Dream nor George drink, as Dream says it throws off his game. Fundy just moved in here a few months ago. It was said that he used to work at a bakery with his friend, Niki, but after a fight and Fundy getting more fame, he moved here and became very successful.
Dream tied Spirit a nearby pole and the two entered the eatery.
"Hello gentlemen!" the hostess told the two, " Tell me show you your tables!"
As they followed the hostess down the aisle, he had glanced around the restaurant. The place was packed today, almost all the tables filled. The hostess sat them at an empty one, provided them menus. They placed their meals and, 20 minutes later, another waitress came in to deliver the food. The two began to eat and Dream attempted to start a conversation.
"So, have any plans for the future?"
"I might try doing guitar shows in cafes and stuff like that. And, if I get enough money, I can try going to college to do coding."
"Oh that's cool. I've learned a bit of coding myself, so I can te-" Dream cut himself off after glancing out the window to find a dark hooded silhouette standing outside, standing very menacingly. Dream, always on alert, had primed his crossbow in case of an emergency.
Suddenly, the glass shattered, a long noise that echoed through the eatery. Dream dove into George at the last minute to avoid the arrow that was shot at them. Then, panic spread so fast through the restaurant, it was like it was contagious. People started to scream, bolting for the exit. Waiters and waitresses dove into the backroom. Dream then reached for his crossbow, and returned fire, slightly missing.
Ducking carefully, Dream took George's hand and went into the back of the restaurant where the food was cooked, navigating their way through the tables and varieties of food. Then they reached the back exit, where they dashed through an alley and got to the front of the building. As Dream untied Spirit, the hooded figure exited out of the restaurant, implying that they went to search for them there. The hood was about to hit them with a crossbow shot, but George snatched Dream's crossbow as he untied the crossbow, and returned fire, now gashing the hood's arm.
George looked nervously at Dream, saying, "I paid attention when you taught me."
Dream rolled his eyes in amusement and had finally untied the rope, hoping on Spirit with George and riding down the street. However, the hood took out a speed potion from his pocket, being prepared, drank it, and started to chase after the boys. The potency of the potion must've been very good, as the hood could catch up pretty quickly.
Despite Dream's efforts, the hood caught up and tackled Dream off out Spirit, the two engaged in a bloody battle, each taking swings to the other, the two then engaging in weapon combat, with Dream pulling out his axe, and the hood fighting back with a sword. However, surprisingly, the hood overtook Dream and he was about to slay Dream. However, from behind him, George held the crossbow and smacked the book right on the head, causing him to drop to the ground heavily. Realizing his defeat, the hood revealed an elytra that was attached to their back underneath their hoodie, and flew away.
The two recollected themselves, looking very exhausted. Then Dream winced, revealing that he got a pretty bad cut on his arm. George took a part of Dream's hoodie and tied it around the bleeding area. "Thanks," Dream responded, "for this and the save." George nodded, only uttering, "who was that?" The two sat there, sharing a sort of tender moment in a time of darkness.
