Niki walked down the town's pathway, her shoes crunching against the small pebbles that littered the sidewalk. She was holding a large box. She, like many others, heard the news of the murder that occurred. Nobody talked to Dream to comfort him, probably out of fear. But she's taken it upon herself to do since.
Niki knocked on the door of Dream's apartment, then silence. It was about a minute, and she was about to bust down the door herself when it opened.
"Hello... Dream, is it?"
Dream, in his green hoodie, not needing the disguise anymore, politely nodded and let her inside.
"I would just like to say first that I'm very sorry for your loss."
Dream looked up, said a quiet thanks, and went back to sharpening his tools.
"Here's something from my bakery, just for... you know..."
Dream looked up again, this time with surprise that someone was this nice. He said thank you in a more sincere way and told her to point in the kitchen.
"Also, I was wondering if you'd like to come work at the bakery? You know... to take your mind off, certain things?"
"No thanks, I'm busy. And anyways I'll probably not be here for much longer."
"Oh, alright! But if you ever want to work, you can always come by," Niki said, handing Dream the business card and leaving.
Later on, at around dusk, she saw Dream exit his apartment and leave with his horse Spirit.
"I wonder where he's going," Niki said to herself, "I hope his mental health's fine."
Dream rode into the night, going to finish the fight once and for all.
