The pack tossed their caps in the air as they were announced to be the latest graduating class of Beacon Hills High. The crowd erupted in cheers as the teenagers gave each other hugs and high fives that they had finally done it! They were free from this darn high school, after nearly 4 years of torture both inside and outside of school. The pack was ecstatic as they had all managed to survive through their confusing high school years, and were relieved that they had made it out alive.
Once the grads lead the way out of the gymnasium, the pack all reconnected out in the parking lot so they could head out to the Hale house for a party with just the pack, and of course John and Melissa.
Stiles smiles as he watches his friends talking and goofing around, waiting for some last stragglers to find them.
"Congratulations son!" John says as he approaches behind him, and Stiles turns around with a smile.
"Thanks dad, I'm just glad I didn't trip onstage." Stiles laughs and gives his dad a hug.
"Congrats." Another familiar voice says and Stiles is confused for a second, pulling away from his dad to see that the alpha wolf himself had shown up to the graduation.
"Sourwolf? You came? I thought social gatherings weren't your thing?" He asks with a smirk and eyes Derek up and down for a brief moment.
"Well, typically they're not. But, I thought I'd make an exception since it was for my pack." Derek smiles gently back, something that anyone rarely sees.
John gives a shake of the head at how oblivious his son is, and gives him a pat on the back before going to find Melissa.
"And sans leather jacket! You actually put on button up shirt?! And khakis?! Who are you and what have you done to Derek?" Stiles asks and Derek laughs but shakes his head.
"I plan on changing once I get back to the house, so enjoy this now. It was a special occasion, so I thought I could suffer for you guys." He smiles and Stiles smirks.
"You really do care for us, don't you?" Stiles awes, and Derek frowns playfully.
"Hush, I don't need anyone else knowing about that."
Stiles gives him a playful nudge before calling over Scott.
"What's up?" Scott asks and Stiles hands him his phone.
"I need you to take my picture with Derek." As he wraps an arm around Derek shoulder while Derek glares at him in annoyance.
"Smile you ass." Stiles whispers to Derek, who rolls his eyes but breaks and cracks a genuine smile for the camera.
Scott takes a few before handing it back to Stiles.
"Ha! Perfect! Now I've got blackmail material!" Stiles smirks and Derek's growls.
"Nope! Not anymore! Give me that phone!" Derek says and tries to grab it from the younger man.Meanwhile the rest of the pack is watching from a short distance away.
"So, they like each other right?" Melissa asks and the rest of the pack nods, including John.
"They're not subtle about it, but neither of them realize that the other one likes them." Isaac explains.
"Yeah. We should try and get them together tonight."Lydia adds.
"How?" Isaac asks.
"Stiles wrote a song! He had me learn it on guitar! I'm pretty positive that it was written for Derek." Scott grins and Lydia smirks too.
"Go home and grab your guitar, and then tonight around the fire we can bring it out!" Melissa smiles and Scott nods.
With the plan set, the pack is finally ready to head to the Hale house, but first,
"Hey boneheads! Are you guys ready to go?" John yells at the two who are now wrestling in the grass, Derek holding the phone just out of Stiles' reach.
"Huh? Oh! Right! The party!" Stiles laughs and climbs off of the wolf, who stumbles up beside him and begrudgingly hands him back his phone, pictures not deleted.
"See you at the house!" Stiles smiles at Derek who sticks out his tongue and grabs his keys from his pocket, giving them a wave before heading for where his camaro is parked.Stiles climbs into his jeep with his dad in the passenger seat, and he pulls out of the parking lot following the rest of the pack ahead of him.
"So, you and Derek huh?" John smirks and Stiles groans but shakes his head slightly.
"Nope, never in my lifetime." Stiles sighs and John raises an eyebrow.
"Really? Cause you're the only one Derek opens up to like that. Sure he's a more open than he was a few years ago, but he lets himself go when it come to you." John replies and Stiles takes a deep breath.
"Look dad, I'm going to be completely honest because yes, of course I like Derek. He's a great guy, and he's caring and surprisingly funny, plus he's like a Greek god, but he'd never feel anything like that for me. I'm a bundle of energy and constant movement, and I annoy the shit out of him. He likes me, but only as a packmate and a friend, sadly nothing more." Stiles explains and John hmmm's as he listens.
"But how do you know?" He asks.
"I just do! Trust me, I've had my hopes up for two years now and nothing good has come of it. I need to move on." Stiles sighs in defeat and John smiles slightly.
"Don't say that just yet. He might just surprise you."
Stiles doesn't respond to that, and for the last five minutes of the drive they just listen to the radio.
