I still remember the third of December, me in your sweater.
You said it looked better on me than it did you.
Only if you knew, how much I liked you.
But I watch your eyes as she, walks by.
What a sight for sore eyes, brighter than the blue sky.
She's got you mesmerized, while I die.

December 3rd, a cold Friday that had Stiles shivering in more ways than one. Derek and Scott had convinced him to come out to this party some of the other senior students were having, claiming that Stiles didn't get out enough and that they should all enjoy their last year in high school together before they all got caught up in college.
Stiles of course, gave in to the idea when Derek batted his beautiful eyes at him, and that is how he found himself in a barn full of drunken teenagers, trying to find one of his friends who have seemed to have evaporated.

Now, to give a little bit more context, Stiles has been in love with Derek since they first met on the first day of ninth grade. Derek had come up to him and Scott in the cafeteria and asked to sit with them, and it was the start of a beautiful friendship.
The three would sit together in the cafeteria for lunch some days, and others they would head to the music room so Stiles could practice his guitar and even occasionally sing for them. Derek was his #1 fan from day one.
Of course, Stiles didn't know what his feelings were initially, but over time he learnt and came to terms with them, and instead of telling his best friend whom he knew was indeed bisexual, he hid his feelings and tried his hardest to ignore them.
This however came back to backfire on him once he finally catches sight of him in the middle of the rowdy group of teenagers.

He pulls Derek off to the side and grunts as his friend whines and complains about being dragged away.
"Stiles, what is it?" Derek asks, slightly tipsy but still able to hold a serious conversation.
"I'm freezing, can we please go soon?" Stiles begs and Derek chuckles.
"You're always cold. Here," he says, shrugging off his dark blue hoodie and passing it to his friend, "wear this, it'll keep you warm. Plus it looks so much better on you than it does me." He says, getting quickly distracted by a blonde girl walking by.
"Whoa." Derek mumbles to himself and Stiles feels his gut drop.
"Who is she?" Stiles asks and Derek shrugs.
"I'm not sure. I think her name is Heather?" Derek smiles gently.

From that point on, Stiles knew this was going to hurt.

Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty
You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester.
But you like her better,
Wish I were Heather.

Stiles felt the dread the nexts few weeks after the party when Derek started bringing Heather around to sit with them in lunch. This lead to her joining them at the mall, hanging out to play video games, and even to their movie nights.
Scott didn't seem to mind, his own girlfriend Kira tagged along enough so he thought it was great to have another girl to even things out.
Stiles however, still felt as if he had been punched in his gut, and felt more alone than ever.
What hurt the most though, was seeing Heather and Derek by Derek's locker, Heather claud it Derek's dark blue hoodie, kissing passionately as if they were the only two in the building.
Stiles felt his heart clench and had to dash into the closest bathroom to avoid anyone seeing him cry.

Watch as she stands with her, holding your hand.
Put your arm 'round her shoulder, now I'm getting colder.
But how could I hate her, she's such an angel.
But then again, kinda wish she were dead as she, walks by.
What a sight for sore eyes, brighter than the blue sky.
She's got you mesmerized, while I die.

About two month into Heather hanging out with them, her and Derek put a label on it and are officially a couple. That of course meant that it was not an uncommon sight to see the two wrapped in each other's arms at the lunch table, or Derek's arm draped around her shoulders as she held and played with his fingers.
He put on a fake face as he got to their lunch table and set his tray down before placing his bags down beside him.
"So who wants to go see the new Star Wars with me tonight? Got tickets in 3D, should be great!" Stiles smiles and notices the guilty looks in his friend's faces.
"Sorry man, we all went to see it a couple days ago." Scott sighs.
"Wait, what?" Stiles' heart drops, and he looks between Scott and Derek for an explanation.
"Yeah, I sent you a text but never got a response." Scott says and Stiles frowns but shakes his head.
"I never got a message from you." He whispers.
Scott pulls out his phone and checks, then sighs and shows Stiles the little red 'X', meaning it never went through and didn't actually get sent.
"Sorry man, bad service I guess." Scott sighs.
"And you didn't think to text me when I didn't reply?" Stiles asks Derek, who goes wide eyed and stutters.
"You know I've been dying to see that movie." Stiles sighs and picks at his lunch.
"I'll go with you to see it Stiles." Heather smiles and Stiles sighs but shakes his head.
"Thanks, but I don't really want to go anymore. I'll see you guys later." He mutters as he picks up his backpack and guitar case, heading out of the cafeteria and towards the music room.
