POV: Damien
When I finally fell asleep, I stood in my wolf form, like I always do, waiting.
Waiting for what, you may ask?
The girl.
I wait for a little while. No one. I take control of the dream now and shift back from my wolf form. I spin around and take in my surrounding more.
No one.
I feel my heart start to pick up. Where is she?
"Hello?" I yell into the darkness of the forest that surrounds us. Oh no, please no. I look around more waiting and praying to see those green eyes pop out of nowhere. But again there is nothing.
I feel my soul darken with sorrow, these nightmares were the only constant in my life. The only thing I could count on to be there every single time I closed my eyes. The only thing I could control. And now she's gone just like everything else in my life.
With the thought of her being gone, and never coming back, I feel my already broken heart shatter into a million smaller pieces.
"Please come out Green Eyes, don't leave me" I whisper into the darkness and suddenly smell the metallic aroma of blood...I feel my body getting shaken back to reality.
"What do you want?" I growl viciously. I hear a loud whimper, it was then when I realized the smell of blood wasn't just in my dream, but it is also in my room. I jump up out of bed alert and ready to attack any sudden movement.
"Calm down, Damien, it's just me." My beta shakily breaths out.
"You better be dead or close to it-" I start but as I turn to face him, I guessed correctly "well then I guess the latter would fit this situation. What happened? You look like crap." And he did. From the moonlight that seeped through the window, I could see his eyes bloodshot red and his hand clutching his chest, which was seeping the same red color as his eyes. My eyes widened just a millimeter when I notice that his wounds haven't healed themselves already. That could only mean one thing...
"Still better than you, my friend" he winks, leave it to Jakob to be the only one in critical condition but still cracking jokes. His joyfulness going as fast as it came. "We went towards the house, just like you asked Alpha. And when we got there I smelled another wolf so we went to check it out and..."
"And?"
"It didn't go so well" he looks down. He only does that when he's hiding something.
"No shit. Now tell me what happened." I say using my alpha voice,I'm done with these games. He looks around at my gray walls and my unmade bed before his eyes finally make his way back to mine.
"And then when we followed the scent it lead us to three wolves standing at the opposite side of the house...I was wondering what they were doing there so I approached but as I did I heard it."
"Heard what?"
"The most amazing sound on the planet. It was a woman's voice Alpha, but unlike anything I've ever heard." as he says this his eyes gloss over, momentarily taking his mind away from the pain, as he remembers. His face still in a look of awe he continues, "she must live in the house, but she was a human. Which brings me to the next part. Those three wolves I was telling you about? Yes? They were...Alpha Storm, Beta Zach and Beta Sam."
He tells me this slowly as if not to cause me anger. It doesn't matter I tense at the names, and feel my blood starting to boil. My eyes turn black as my wolf struggles to come out and track down that coward and not let anything get in our way until we have the taste of his bitter red blood in our mouth.
"When the music stopped it was like they snapped out of a trance...then Alpha Storm threatened us. He told us if we were to ever step foot near the girl in the house again that'd he'd kill us. And when I called his bluff they attacked us and he let me live only if I'd promise to his demand. And I did." Jakob hung his head in shame, like he should. He has a duty to protect and defend the honor of this pack at all costs, meaning his life and he failed to do so. But I couldn't help the fury burrowing deep in my soul.
You shouldn't be mad at our Beta. You know the kinds of games Alpha Storm plays, he couldn't help it. My wolf, Xavier, growls quietly.
Yes, but he should still be punished. And with that I shut him out.
"I'll talk to you tomorrow about your's and Jaron's punishment. Goodnight" I say finally.
"Goodnight, Alpha" he whispers loud enough for me to hear and walks out of my room, to his next destination that I can assume to be the pack doctor.
I wonder why the girl is so important to Storm. He already had his mate, I think bitterly, and I still haven't found mine.
Well, when I pay the girl a little visit I guess I'll have to find out what's so special that makes Storm's stick go farther up his ass.
And while I'm there I'd love to hear her pretty little voice sing for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
