POV: Rose
I walked for about fifteen minutes before I arrived in front of the school. The school could easily be mistaken as a university by any bypasser. The high school was stacked up 3 stories and stood tall and broad.
I walked around the giant campus for about five minutes before I finally found the front office. 'Holy fortune cookies, that took WAY longer than it should have' I think to myself as push open the large red door.
The first thing I notice as I take in my surroundings is, this school is full of color. So much color, it's making my eyes burn. It looked like a unicorn threw up on the walls and pooped on the floors. Too much sparkles. Too much everything.
My house was pale in comparison. With its plain white walls and boring grey tile. I shake my head to clear it of any unnecessary thoughts.
"Hi" I say shyly to the women sitting behind the desk. She looks surprisingly young, maybe thirty-one or thirty-two. She wore her perfect blonde hair up in a painstakingly high bun, that looked so tight it might have pulled her face back a bit. And she wore a red cardigan that seemed to compliment the walls around her and a white blouse to set the color scheme just right. All in all, she was gorgeous.
"Hello darling, you must be the new student. I'm Mrs. Woods, the secretary. If I remember correctly your name is...." She rambled on as she tried to remember my name. Just as I was about to interrupt her she scolded me, "Don't you dare tell me. I will get this....it starts with an R....its on the tip of my tongue....AHHHHH! Why can't I remember this?....OH is it RUBY?"
I shake my head an speak before she can continue, not that I mind but I still need to navigate my way around the excessively large campus. "It's Rose. Rose Winters. I came by yesterday and dropped off all my registration forms."
"Yes it appears you did, let me get your schedule." She wheels around and digs through a rather large looking filing cabinet. When she turns around to hand me the form her eyes go straight to my bruise covered wrist that I accidentally exposed in my process of grabbing the paper. "What happened?" She says, her face now a pale white.
"Nothing. Don't worry about. Freak surfing accident at the cove a few days ago. No need to be concerned it will heal." I smile, but there will be more, I think bitterly. She smiles at me, but it doesn't reach her pale blue eyes, which are filled with concern and disbelief at my failed attempt to lie.
"Well here you go, I wish I could have someone show you around bu-" she starts but is soon interrupted by someone rudely throwing the office door open, causing it to slam against the walls making a loud echo that gets the attention of everyone in the office.
"Storm." The secretary greets, "Late again, I see?"
"Yes, good morning to you to Mrs. Woods. Oh who is this we have here?" his tone changes to flirtatious the second he notices me standing in the middle of the office awkwardly.I turn around to introduce myself, but my mouth suddenly goes dry when I slowly take in his appearance. Strong broad shoulders, and arms that have but the right amount of muscle, covered by a black shirt. The t-shirt was just tight enough where you could see the outline of his six-pack and straight dark wash jeans that fit him nicely but we're loose enough to leave some things to the imagination, thank God. And as I continued to move my eyes up I skipped his face and felt my eyes attracted to his dirty blonde hair. The first thought that pops through my head through all this is that this must be natural or he has one good hair stylist- not that I'm ruling that out. And lastly I meet my eye to his piercing green ones, that may I say were filled with amusement as he notices me checking him out, but suddenly dissapears when he fully looks back into my eyes.
I've seen those eyes before.
Somewhere.
I see his eyes grow into a deep shade of gray, and here an animalistic-like sound come from his throat.
What the fortune cookies is that?
I feel a blush creep up from my neck to sores across my cheeks when I realize he is still staring at me. But instead of amusement it's something deeper...darker...something like admiration? Love? Or maybe even Lust? I finally break eye-contact and suddenly find my torn-up and hole-filled black converse very interesting.
"This is Ruby-" Mrs. Woods tries to break the silence with an introduction, but I couldn't help but notice she looked surprised to and...happy? Why is she happy about two people practically eye raping each other right in front of her?
"Rose." I correct her again with a small smile.
"This is Rose" Mrs. Woods starts again looking at me for approval as I nod my head trying to keep my laughter within.
"She's new here. And since I don't see anyone else around at the moment, you will be showing her around." She says as she turns to me and smiles. I just stand there dumbfounded. I can't walk around with this strangely familiar guy, I don't want to attract attention to myself- not to mention doing anything embarrassing.
I turn back to Mrs. Woods and start to protest when I feel a hand lightly cover my mouth, as to kindly stifle my words, I felt little sparks, very small but enough to make me struggle to get away. The person's hand itself wasn't doing anything that could hurt me, but out of pure instinct and natural fear, I flinched back and cowered away. When I looked up from behind my hands once I realized that there was no one that was going to hit me.
I quickly tried to brush my incident away quickly buy grabbing the schedule from Mrs. Woods' hand and walking out the door. Leaving there looks of concern and confusion behind me, as I started about my first day at this new school.
