(I freaking love this song❤️❤️ and I thought it fit the book pretty well)
POV Damien:
I looked around at the old village and smiled. I took a deep breath and inhaled the smell of the salty-sweet air. My men did quite a number on this place. No man, women, or child (that I am currently aware of) of this pack is still breathing.
As I take an overview of my Warriors, they had few injures, not nearly severe enough to go to the pack doctor. I counted the men and realized we were missing one.
"Where is Peter?" I asked forcefully, my voice ringing out in the quiet darkness, to the wolves now crowding around me.
"Peter has a stab wound to the stomach. He lost a lot of blood, Beta Jakob took him back once it was safe." I hear a voice answer from the back.
Glad to see anyone bothered to tell me. "Alright. I want everyone to do one more run- through and make sure we didn't miss anyone. Then meet back at the pack house for further instruct-"
The voice that had interrupted my speech made me turn and run:Alpha, she's awake.
POV Rose:
As I wade through the never- ending darkness, I hear a faint and slow beeping and I walk towards the strange noise. The closer I get, the louder and faster the sound gets. I take the last step a blinding brightness hits me and the beeping crescendos to a piercing scream. Then all at once, it seemed to soften. I tried to open my eyes, but I was just so tired.
Just as I was about the back away from the blinding light and wander back into the peaceful darkness, a painful stab into my arm made my eyes fly open. The first thing I notice is a man standing in front of me.
Black hair.
Black eyes.
Big.
Tall.
Michael.
My eyes are still blurry and I can't focus, I panic. My breath shortens, I try to move away from him as he comes closer, but my body doesn't seem to cooperate.
He was trying to say something to me, probably threatening me. Through the black that is starting to spot my vision, I see him walk in my direction. My eyes catch the glint of the light off of something sharp.
My panic levels increase by one thousand.
This is it. Here he is going to finally kill me, and I don't even know where 'here' is.
But for the first time since my mom passed away, I don't want to die.
Why now, what did the golden women do to me?
Why did she send me back here?
Why did I think I could actually be free from him?
Then a loud slam hurt my ears, and Michael was tackled out of my line of vision so fast that I didn't see who, or what, did it. All I could be was thankful that they came in at the right time.
I heard screams of mercy and that's when I realized somethings I didn't notice when I first awoke, that voice is to young, and Michael will never beg to anyone for anything.
I forced my eyes open. The first thing that I notice is the boy, no older than me, is unconscious. If I didn't see the faint raise and fall of his chest I would've thought he was dead. I feel my heart break, he didn't do anything to me, it's my fault he's hurt.
I slowly tear my eyes away from the boy, wishing I could help him, when I meet the piercing blue eyes of a very large black animal.
A wolf.
The same wolf.
That's when reality slaps me hard in the face. The last time I saw Michael, he was running away from this wolf.
This wolf saved me.
This made my eyes brim with tears of happiness. The black wolf attacked the boy because he thought the boy was going to hurt me.
The wolf carefully stalked over to me, as if to try not to scare me. When he saw my tears I heard a quiet whimper come from his direction. He slowly comes to my side of the bed and rubs his large head against my hand that lays limp at the side of the bed. I try to open my mouth to reassure him that I was fine, but only a tiny puff of air came out.
The golden lady said she'd fix me, what happened? I feel my heart seal with despair.
You must heal yourself. Her words ring out in my head.
What does that mean? I ask myself, like it was possible that deep down I knew the answer.
The wolf's ears all the sudden perk up and his bright blue eyes seem to darken at whatever he is listening so intently to.
He then gives me a look as if to say sorry, then turns and runs out the door. Watching him go made my heart break even more.
Not thirty seconds later a man walks into the hospital room and I'll never believe what my eyes saw.
