POV Damien:

"What are you doing here?" I growled at Storm as we stood face to face in a grassy clearing just outside the edge of the forest. It took nearly all my men to keep him restricted here.

"I'm supposed to protect her, you know that. Remember what the women said?" He turned his head to the side and spat blood into the green grass, causing it to turn a brownish color. But his words struck me hard.

Flashback Start

"You two will have to come together for the benefit of yourselves, your mates, and your packs" The old women looked at us with hope in her eyes, but all I looked back at her with was hatred.

Hatred for the world.

For her.

For Storm.

For myself.

For anyone else.

For faith.

For hope.

Because if I had to suffer the loss of the only people that loved me in this world, so would everyone else.

"Why should I help everyone else? It's not like they helped me when I needed it," I snapped at the women.

"Listen closely Damien, you are going to want to do this. Your mate is going to need you more than you can imagine. You are going to want to love her and protect her in every way, you are going to want to shelter her from the world. But you must understand that you can't hide her, you must help her. She will soon be able to prevent situations like yours, she is special." Mate? Special? Protection? This is to much to process.

"Storm, you must protect this girl also-" The women started but Storm interrupted her.

"Why would I protect his mate instead of my own?" Storm growled possessively thinking about his own mate towards the women. But instead of responding, the women continued talking as if Storm never spoke.

"-make sure that nothing bad is to happen to her no matter the bad things happen to you. Let nothing, no one stop you from keeping her safe. Whatever she says, there is nothing more important than her in the world. She is our future, and I will do whatever I can to make sure that she prospers." I'm sure the look on my face wasn't even close to the shock that was written on Storm's.

But if there was one thing I did know.

If there was one thing I wasn't going to do in the world, It was going to be sharing my mate.

Flashback over

"You may try and deny it. But I know that Rose is the girl the old women was talking about" Storm tried to fight against the men that were holding him on his knees.

I walk over to him and kick him hard in the stomach causing him to double over and cough out more blood. I bend down so he will be able to hear me.

"Go by my mate again and I'll personally lock you in my dungeon and torture you while she's watching. And since you are her protecter, then you wouldn't want her to see-" before I could finish my sentence her presence silenced me.

I turned around slowly and tried to give Rose a warm smile, but I could tell she knew I was faking it.

"What are you doing out here?" I ask gently. Not only do I not want her to see Storm, but she doesn't look good. I'm not even sure how found me, let alone be able to walk here.

Instead of responding, which I thought was quite odd, she just moved her head as if she was trying to see what- or who- I was hiding. I positioned myself better in front of Storm.

Jakob get her out of here right now. I mind-linked my beta. But if you hurt her, I'll kill you.

But before Jakob could lay a hand on Rose, I heard a strangled cry sound from behind me and the next thing I saw was Jakob being tackled by a beaten and battered Storm.

"Stay away from her" Storm's voice was so dark and dangerous that it almost matched his eyes.

Instead of Rose running away like I thought she would, she ran towards Storm and wrapped herself around him and buried her face in his chest. My wolf is going crazy inside my head at the thought of our mate feeling safe with someone else, but at the same time he mad at me for making her feel this way.

POV: Rose

The strange man kept coming towards me. I tried to look around for help, I kept trying to look behind the man that I saw in my hospital room, but he wouldn't let me. I stood still and scared as the man stopped in front of me.

As he raised his hand to-I can only guess- strike me, I closed my eyes and waited for the pain. But as I waited it never came, I opened my eyes to see a blonde man tackling then other, and that's when it me.

Storm.

When Storm stood up and walked away from the man, that was now stunned from being tackled to the ground, I couldn't help but run to him. I crushed myself into him so hard that I thought we'd become one. Storm immediately wrapped his arms around me and held me just as tight, and whispered sweet nothings into my ear to calm me down.

He saved us. A voice whispered inside of my head. I was confused, but I just brushed it off and continued to cry into Storm's hard chest.

The man who was hiding Storm from me, which also happened to be the man who visited me in the hospital, was staring at me so hard that I could feel his eyes burning a whole in my back. I felt my heart break at the thought of hurting him.

But right now I just turned my thought back to Storm. The man who promised to protect me at all costs. The only man that had earned my trust, the only man that hasn't given me a reason not to.
