Fourteen

I smile widely taking my final bow after finishing my routine and bite my lip trying to fight my laughter when I hear whistling from the audience. I turn and go off stage knowing that those whistles are from the most important people in my life. My nerves have finally settled more now that the recital is over with but the fear of not being recognized as a talented dance is still in the back of my mind. I shake the thoughts out of my head and go to a girl's dressing room that's backstage to change out of my dance costume.

I quickly pull on my black skirt and a nice blue shirt that I hardly ever wear except for on special occasions such as this pulling my black heels out of my bag. I pull my hair down from the tight bun and try to fix it to look at least halfway decent knowing that my friends and I will go out to eat.

"You are so beautiful." Matt's familiar voice says and I jump turning to see him coming in with one hand behind his back dressed in jeans and a gray polo shirt.

"Matt, what are you doing back here?" I ask as I come over to him standing up on my toes to kiss him softly and slide my arms around his neck. "You're going to get me in trouble."

"I wanted to be the first to see you and give you this." He says and brings a small box out from behind his back making me raise a brow.

"You know we're already married." I say and look at him.

"Just open it, Victoria." He says after a laugh and hands me the box that I think is a bit too big for a ring. I bite my lip and slowly open the box to see a pair of diamond earrings.

"Matt...they're beautiful but you shouldn't have." I say and look at him leaning up to kiss him softly.

"I wanted to and Mere said they were from her too." He says and gently kisses my forehead looking at me with a grin.

I smile and turn to over to the mirror taking out my plain old hoop earrings replacing them with the new ones. "Perfect."

"Yes, you are." He says and comes to hug my waist from behind meeting my eyes in the mirror. "I love you, Tori."

"I love you too, Matt." I say and lean back into him sighing happily as meet his gaze. "I don't know how to thank you, baby."

"You'll think of something." He says in my ear and I giggle softly turning to kiss him softly.

"He shouldn't be in here." A voice says making us pull apart and I look over to see one of the girls that danced before me.

"I was just leaving." Matt says and pecks my lips one more time looking at me as he steps back. "I'll be in the lobby with everyone else."

"Okay, I'll be right there." I say and squeeze his hand gently watching him leave the room before I start to pack up my things.

I quickly gather my things and pack what I can in my bag quickly stepping into my heels. I smile and walk down the hall towards the lobby where I know my friends are biting my lip when I think about how they have always been there when I've needed them. I play with the ring on my finger and my smile widens as I realize that Matt will always be there for me as well, which makes me beyond happy.

"You know I almost forgot how good of a dancer you are." A voice says that makes my blood run cold and my heart drop.

"Bobby..." I breathe out and turn to see him leaning against a maintenance door smirking at me. I quickly notice that he has a black eye and few cuts on his face from what I assume was the night Matt beat him up. "I have people waiting for me at the end of the hall."

"Do you think that scares me? I told that temperamental boyfriend of yours I'd get him back..." He says and and I back away as he pushes off the door coming closer to me. "What's a better way than hurting his girl?"
