Twelve
"He's nothing, just like you!" My father yells and kicks Matt again making him groan as his head lolls to the side facing me.
"No! Stop it!" I scream and fight Bobby's strong hands holding my wrists behind my back. "Just leave him alone!"
"Hush, girl!" My father hisses and strikes me across the face grabbing me by the hair as I spit blood from my mouth.
"Tori!" Matt groans looking at me desperately and I meet his eyes terrified where this is all going. His face is already covered in bruises and small cuts not to mention the other horrible marks that are hidden by his shirt.
"You can shut up too!" My dad growls taking a swig of whiskey and throws the near empty bottle at Matt barely missing his head. I fight more against the vice grip around my wrist and finally breaking free from Bobby.
"Leave him alone, dad!" I yell and stumble back as my father gets in my face quickly grabbing my hair.
"You never have been able to listen..." He hisses and hits me hard making my vision blur as I fall to the floor. "Because of that he will pay."
"Get off her!" Matt yells and gets up faster than I would have thought shoving my father away.
"No!" I gasp and Bobby grabs my arms yanking me up. "No, please! It was me not him!"
"Say goodbye to your hubby." Bobby whispers in my ear and I tremble as I watch my father get a gun out of his desk.
"No! Matt, baby go!" I scream and Matt looks at me on brink of passing out. "Matt, please! Just go, get out of here!"
"Not without you!" He says and shakes his head, which makes him stumble a bit.
"Oh you two won't be going anywhere together." My father says pointing the gun at Matt and I scream as the gun fires with a loud bang.
"Matt!" I scream waking up and sit up as my heart pounds in my chest. I violently sob into my hands tired of having the same nightmares for the past two nights. I turn to grab my phone and jerk back when my bedroom door flies open.
"Tori?" Rose asks coming to my bed and looks at me worried. "Again?"
I nod and the nightmare flashes through my mind again as I shakily find Matt's number in my phone. I press call and try to calm my breathing but every time I blink I see Matt dead on the floor. I rock back and forth shaking in fear as Rose watches me. "M-Matt, baby...please, please pick up!"
"Tori?" Matt's voice suddenly breaks through my horrible thoughts.
"C-Can I come over?" I gasp out and grab my glasses as Rose grabs my hand.
"Breathe." She says and I pull away shaking my head.
"Victoria, baby...what's wrong?" Matt asks and I get up grabbing my bag from the end of my bed.
"I-I just need you, Matt..." I say and my voice hitches in my throat as another sob builds in my chest.
"Are you hurt? Where are you?" He asks and I hear him moving around.
"No, I'm fine. I-I'm at home but I'm leaving." I say as my side aches from not breathing properly and I can hardly see from the tears in my eyes.
"Victoria!" Matt nearly shouts and I stop in my tracks dropping the clothes I was trying to pack.
"What?" I reply and Rose grabs the clothes to help me pack.
"Sit down, please." He says and I comply sitting at the end of my bed. "Are you sitting?"
