Hellene's POV

*the next day

I woke up to find Percy still sleeping. He looked so calm and adorable. Even though Annabeth was right about him drowling in his sleep.

I slipped down the ladder that connected our beds. Then, I opened the window to let the fresh air in and made my bed. I thought if I was going to live with someone else I could at least make a good impression.

After I was done with the room, I opened a cupboard which I'd claimed earlier as mine. I got out a pair of jeans, a bra and a comfortable hoodie. I turned around and threw them up on my bed. Then, I heard a cracking sound which announced that Percy was awake.

"Why are you up earlier than me?" He asked still sleepy.

"It's six thirty. You'll be late." I said calmly searching for a comfortable shirt in my cupboard.

"You should've woken me up," He stated, "And here! You can have this. It's yours now." He said tossing an orange shirt down.

"Thanks. Now, if you'll excuse me I'll go get ready in--"

"No." He cut me as I sent him a questioning glance.

"Why do you mean no?" I asked.

"I know how much it takes for a girl to get ready in the bathroom. You stay in this room, I'll go to the bathroom. And don't worry," he said as he was already at the door "I won't peek."

With that, he closed the door and left me alone in the room so that I can change. I climbed back up on the bed and sat down so that my legs were hanging from the edge of the bed. I slipped off my old shirt that I used as a pajama. Then, I slipped down my gore which had many different color dots. I equipped with my usual jeans and put on my bra as I checked my reflection in the mirror. My hair was messy so I started combing it already compleatly forgetting about Percy who was waiting in the bathroom.

Suddenly, I heard a knock and someone barged right in.

"Percy!" The person shouted at the door and I was too shocked to move.

He stepped further in and I was finally able to see his face. It was Nico. His eyes ran around the room and stopped on the reflection in my mirror. Since I was still in my bra I felt the blush covering my cheeks as I slipped the camp's shirt on.

"I'm sorry. I should've waited outside. But Percy needs to come. Tell him when you're *cough* ready." Nico murmured as he stepped out of our room.

"What happened?" I heard Percy yell from still inside the bathroom.

"You can come out. Nico has news for you." I yelled back.

The door opened as Percy walked outside and Nico dragged him by the elbow. I followed them secretly as quietly as I could. It almost felt like my feet weren't touching the ground. The two boys stopped eventually and I hid behind a cabin nearby. I felt like I needed to hear what the Ghost King had to say.

"Percy, look!" He finally spoke as he gave my bigger brother a newspaper.

"Why are you giving me a newspaper?" The Seaweed Brain asked with a confused look.

"Read on the bottom." Nico commanded.

"L....o....m...g,"

"It says Long Island on fire." Nico explained as Percy couldn't read it. "One of the biggest companies' building was set on fire. It says also that the firemen still can't seem to gain control of the flames."

My eyes widened as I heard his next sentance. "The Magic Chicks is the name of the company. It's--"

"Where my mother works." I said walking towards the boys.

Percy seemed surprise but Nico just sighed and left.

-

"We need to rescue her." I stated.

"We can't go there in time. Plus, how are you gonna save her even if you manage to get there?" Annabeth asked once we shared the news with her.

"But she's my mother." I cried.

"I'm sorry, but--" Annabeth stopped once I stood up from my chair and ran out.

I stopped, due to the lack of oxygen, in the forest. Then, the tears started streaming down my face as I covered it with my hands. I slammed my back on one tree and fell on the ground.

After a couple of seconds, I heard the familiar voice of the Hades' son and looked up. He stretched his hand and pulled me up. Then, he got rid of some of the dirt on my shoulders and my face. He touched my cheek and our eyes met for a second.

"I can help you." He spoke as I tilted my head to the side.

"How?"

"I'll shadow-travel you there."

I looked at him with disbelief. "Can you do it?"

He nodded. "You can have that as a weapon. I don't know if it'll be of any use but still..."

I looked down as he put a Stygian iron knife that looked exactly like a smaller version of his sword.

"Thank you." I said honestly with the sweetest tone I could.

"Okay, but you should keep it a secret." I nodded. "Hold on tight."

He lifted me up and I instinctively wrapped my arms around his neck. Next, I burried my head in his chest and closed my eyes as the darkness swallowed us.
