A/N Italics=Jani's thoughts

"What do you mean get as far away as possible?" Seth asked, following Jani around as she paced.

"Just go! You have no idea how dangerous I will be!"

"Calm down. We still have three and a half months."

"Yeah, that's the perfect amount of time to get as far away from me as possible."

"What's so special about you turning 16? It's just a birthday."

"Every year something bad happens on my birthday. And I can never control it."

"Well, maybe I can help you gain control!"

Jani stopped her pacing. "No! Nothing will help me! When will you realize that I'm just a helpless case?"

"No, you're not! When will you realize that you're an amazing person? When will you realize that you can do anything you can put your mind to?"

"I never will because those are lies," Jani mumbled.

"They're not!"

"Yes, they are. Stop trying to get me to be all happy. If I was happy I would be a terrible person."

"Why?!" Seth demanded.

"Because I'm the stupid Blue Phoenix! I can end the world! Kill every living thing on this planet if I put my mind to it!"

"I can help you control that."

"No, you can't! Can you shoot fire from your fists? Can you fly? Can you teleport? Can you do anything other than sitting around, trying to give moral support?"

"What's the Blue Phoenix?"

"It's a thing that gets passed down from a parent to their kids. If they don't die or find their purpose in life before their 16th birthday, then they destroy the entire earth. If you try to fight it, then you die with the world."

Seth stared at her blankly. "Um... you good?" Jani asked.

"Yeah, that's just... a lot to process." He dragged a hand down his face, leaving thin red marks from where his fingers pressed.

Jani let out a long sigh.  Why did she just say that? Stupid idiot. Now he's going to want to stay even more. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. It was Jani's turn to run a hand down her face.

"Hey, are you okay?" Seth asked. "You said that long uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh out loud if you didn't mean to."

Jani blinked. Whoops.

"You said that out loud too. Maybe you need to get some sleep," he suggested.

Maybe you need to get some sleep.

"You said that out loud too. You really need to get some sleep."

"Fine," Jani mumbled. She crawled onto her cot. She was probably just imagining it, but Seth kissed her forehead and whispered goodnight.

A/N I really need to make this chapter longer so imma do something special...

Seth's POV

Seth thought that the dark bags under Jani's eyes were a little too dark. Oh, also she was saying things that she thought she wasthinking, that would also prove that she was tired. He told her to go to bed - like what any good friend would do - (Are they even friends?) as she got settled onto her cot, he kissed her forehead and whispered good night. He quietly walked out of the tent, aaaaaaaaaaand kicked a tree... about ten times. Why did he kiss her? What's wrong with him? Now it's his turn. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!

A/N And on that note Imma end this sadly short chapter. Don't forget to comment and vote. (I don't trust the view counter bc most of them are prolly from me.)
