"I can't believe this is happening again," Jani mumbled.
"What do you mean 'again'," Seth asked, from the ground. He was trying, and failing, at picking the lock.
"So I guess you need help with proper English. Again means it keeps happening repeatedly or a second time."
Seth rolled his eyes. "No, I mean what happened last time you got stuck in a cell at the police station."
"Oh, it wasn't this police station. This is my first time at this one."
"First time at this one? Are you saying you've been to several?"
"Yes, now can you just butt out of my sad, depressing, and terrible life?"
"Sure your highness. As you wish," Seth continued to try and pick the lock, making an annoying CLICK CLICK CLICK every time his paper clip hit the steel bars.
"So I'm guessing-" CLICK CLICK CLICK "-that you have traveled a lot?" CLICK CLICK CLICK
"Okay, can you just stop with that sad excuse of lock picking?"
Seth straightened up, he seemed taller from the angle Jani was looking at him. "At least I'm trying to get us out of here! All your doing is sitting there, whining about how sad your life is!" he yelled. "It probably why no one wasn't to talk to you," he finished, his voice in a whisper.
Jani locked her jaw and curled her fingers into fists, trying to keep tears from leaking out of her eyes. "Last time I talked to someone, I got them killed! I didn't even want to meet you! You just started bothering me and started to care about me. I didn't even want you in my life!" Then a stubborn tear slipped down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away before Seth could see it, but-of course- he saw it.
"I-I'm sorry I didn't mean-I didn't know-"
Jani cut him off, "I DON'T CARE!" Jani jumped up from her seat and snapped her fingers, making a small blue flame appear over her index finger. She kneeled down and held her finger under the lock. After about ten minutes, the metal was melted enough that the lock was ruined. Jani lightly pushed the door open and peeked around the corner to see if any officers were near. She quietly stepped out of the cell and put her back against the wall. The whole time Seth was watching her with his mouth ajar. One thing was bothering her though.
She said that she didn't want him in her life.
