Sage: 8

Link woke back up in bed. Stress and over excursion caused him to collapse on the stairs.

"Hey you're awake." Amelia smiled. She went to grab his hand and he quickly jerked it away.

"Just because I blacked out does NOT mean I forgot about your lies." Link grumbled.

"Link can we not-." Amelia said.

"I want Marcus here, I don't want you here right now." Link said.

"Okay." Amelia said softly.

Marcus walked upstairs and sat next to Link on the bed. He leaned back and stared at the ceiling with him.

"I don't know what to do. I forgave her because I thought it was one time and now I'm dying and happen to find out she lied." Link said.

"I don't know what to tell you man. This is scary but I don't think you should live the last few months of your life being angry at the woman you have spent your entire life loving." Marcus said.

"I know but I want to be angry, but at the same time, I look at her and I feel just as in love when I first laid eyes on her." Link said.

"Of course you do, she's your girl forever." Marcus said.

"I'm scared." Link said.

"Of what?" Marcus asked.

"Dying. Leaving you guys. The process of dying, it's gonna hurt it already kind of does. I don't want to leave yet." Link said.

"Well I can't buy you more time but I can make these last months worth while." Marcus said.

"Get my bucket list off the dresser." Link said.

"Okay." Marcus said sitting up. He grabbed the folded yellow steno paper.

He sat on the bed and Link unfolded it.

"Get up Marcus." Link said getting out of bed.

"Why?" Marcus asked.

"Just get up." Link said throwing on his jeans and shirt.

"What are you doing you lunatic." Marcus said.

"Call Donna, call everyone. Tell them to meet us at the fountain." Link said.

Link ran downstairs to Amelia and the kids in the kitchen.

"Get in the car." Link said.

"Why whats wrong?" Amelia panicked.

"Nothing, I want to get in the fountain. So call everyone and tell them to meet us." Link said.

Link got in the car and waited until Amelia got in with the kids. Marcus went and called almost 30 other people and told them to meet them at the fountain.

"This is beautiful." Link breathed.

The sun was about to begin set, it was golden hour. Link kicked off his shoes and jumped in the large fountain.

The second tier had water pouring down so Link lifted his arm up and splashed it onto himself.

Marcus decided to borrow a speaker and began to play some of the best old songs. Marcus and the kids jumped in with Link.

They all began to dance and Link picked up Sage and hugged Scout close.

Amelia pulled out her phone, she knew despite how angry Link was at her in this moment- she would want to remember that moment forever.

"MILLS GET YOURSELF IN THIS FOUNTAIN." Link shouted happily.

Happy. He was happy. Like he could care less he was dying. He was in the moment and that's all that mattered to him.

That's Alright With Me, by Humbear was an odd song but if you knew Link it was the song that always picked him up and made him feel better.

The chorus came on and Link pulled Amelia close to him and spun her as water fell onto them.

The sun was pink and golden as laughter and singing filled the air around them.

I feel it, I feel it,
Everything's changing
I feel it, I feel it, I feel it,
Everything's changing
Oh no when the wind is blowing
Don't know where, that's alright with me
Cause I know after its all frozen, that's alright with me

Laughter, joy and for a brief moment forgetting the sadness and the arguments of life, Link and Amelia just danced in the fountain.

Sage and Scout giggled as the water was splashed on their head.

People from all over joined in, they wanted a little of this joy this group was radiating not knowing the whole reason they wanted to dance in the fountain.

"Marcus." Link called.

"Yeah man?" Marcus said.

"Thank you." Link smiled.

"For what?" Marcus asked.

"For the last minute help on the. best. day. yet." Link called.

The sky had turned red and purple, the sun was almost gone. Link could feel the cool air mixed with the soaked clothes he had on yet he couldn't have cared less.

He was happy, he was okay for a moment, he rallied enough to have one of the best experiences of his life.

"Daddy?" Sage said.

"Yes Sagey?" Link knelt down.

"I love you." Sage hugged him.

"With every beat of my heart." Link said holding her close.

Scout hugged him from behind and Link wrapped one arm around Scout bringing him into the hug too.

"I love you right up to the moon." Link said.

"And back." Scout smiled.
