Greetings, my readers. My name is Harry Foster, and I go by the name "Cipher" on Love Nikki. What is Love Nikki, you may ask? Well, it's basically a combination of a dress-up game and a social media site. I play it, because the suits are cool and most of the people on there are very nice. As the game is not very popular, and not that many people know of its existence, I had to summarize what this game is. Now, onto my story. I have a weird glitch with the game. It's not affecting the whole game, thank goodness. But, it is affecting the "Dream Weaver" feature, and items that aren't supposed to exist are appearing. This glitch first began a few days ago. I was looking through Dream Weaver. I had completed all the stages, so, I was just revisiting the characters and reading their funny quotes when you do stuff in the feature, like poke them, or do the daily quests. When, suddenly, I saw another choice. It was a character with no name listed and no sprite, and the completion progress was also blank, as if they had no stages. For this story, I will refer to them as B, which stands for "blank", as they are just a blank. When I saw this option, I immediately clicked it, as even though B had nothing on their thumbnail image, it was still interesting to see a new character. When I clicked on B's thumbnail, something strange happened. The music changed to the Lavender Town theme from the first Pokémon games, which I didn't understand. Why was this music even in the game in the first place!? Adding it would also cause copyright issues, as Love Nikki is not created by Nintendo, nor do the developers of Love Nikki have any other kind of permission to use music from Nintendo's games. The character was still blank, and all that they said was a million dots, just like Lunar when you beat chapter 15. I did my daily quests and pulled in Dream Island. B still said nothing. Then, I went into their "Dreamland", which is where you acquire the character's "Spirit of Sheen", which is an object somehow important to them. You do this using "Fluoride Stones", as well as items from the other areas of the game. Of course, B's Spirit of Sheen was blank, just like them. When I entered the first stage, it's name, as well as the names of the rest of the stages, was blank. There was the default background, with no dialogue. I just had to stare at the background for a while, until something unexpected happened. A background finally loaded. Here is the screenshot of what loaded:
Nothing creepy, but, it was shocking for sure. First, this background is really low-detail and low-quality, compared to all of the other backgrounds in the game. Second, why would Love Nikki even have such a background!? I mean, it's just a bunch of red chains with a black-to-red gradient void behind them! Why would a dress-up game have such a background? When I saw this thing, I immediately took a screenshot of it. I thought that maybe, I could show this screenshot to tech support for them to remove this strange Dream Weaver if it really was a glitch of some kind, or, I could perhaps ask the developers what this was and why I am the only one who saw this? Even though this was weird, I continued playing. The Lavender Town music was still playing in the background. The music had started to get on my nerves, so, I turned the volume on my tablet off and took my laptop to play some music and listen to it in a headset. After selecting some music that didn't hurt my ears as much as the Lavender Town music, I continued playing. The dialogue that I saw next was quite strange. The first thing that was off was the fact that the chat boxes were bright red, like the chains, with black text, instead of being pink with white text, like they are in this game. I saw a message to turn on my volume to hear the "exclusive" voice lines. So, I took off my headset and turned the volume back on. I heard the Lavender Town theme song again, but, this time, it was very quiet, no matter how high the volume of my device was. A dialogue box popped up. The dialogue was all in Chinese. Since I didn't speak Chinese, I put the text into a translation website. The name of the one speaking was "Developer 1". The first bit of dialogue said: "So, when are we releasing this character?" Next spoke the second developer, who was named accordingly: "Developer 2". This character said something along the lines of: "We are never releasing the character, you dumbass! Didn't your boss tell you this!?" Now, I will provide the dialogue below, translated to English, without my commentary. The developers will be marked by their numbers.
1: Okay, sir. I am sorry. I did not hear that.
2: Seriously? Did you go deaf during the conference!? Ugh, whatever. Back onto the topic of the new character. No, we are never releasing them. Ever. On any server. Not even the test server will have this character.
1: Why?
2: Ugh, asking stupid questions again. Fine, I will answer your question. We are never releasing the character, as the character is way too disturbing for the players.
1: Way too disturbing? The plot is already disturbing enough!
2: I mean physiologically disturbing. Looking at this character damaged our colleagues' vision! They had to go get medical help!
1: Who would even create something like this, if they knew that it physically harmed people!?
2: No idea.
1: Whoever it was, they should go to jail for creating this wretched thing! This person hurt our colleagues!
2: Maybe. Now, you may wonder what happened to these people who saw the character. They all had epileptic seizures, even though none of them suffered from epilepsy, and after the seizures, they all went almost blind and had to have surgery to restore their eyesight.
1: Do you know how the thing looks like?
2: No. Hopefully, I haven't seen it. But, people did say that it caused the seizures because of it being made out of flashing lights the brightness of car headlights.
1: Hahahahaha! What kind of character is that!? A mess of flashing lights isn't a character! Sorry for laughing, it's just that it's pretty funny that such a thing could even be called a character.
2: I agree. It was also reported that the creator of this thing drew it unwillingly. By that, I mean that the artist had a masked man holding a gun to his head while drawing this thing. The artist did not want to die, so, he drew this wretched thing and caused the suffering of a few dozen people because of it.
1: Oh my god! I feel bad for the artist just as much as I do for everyone who had suffered because of this thing!
2: I agree by a hundred percent with you. I also know that some players have actually seen this thing in their game, but, it is displayed as a blank instead of the epilepsy-causing monstrosity it is, thank god.
1: Oh no! We must deal with this, fast!
2: Wait, wait, wait. Calm down! It isn't causing any problems, as its display image is a blank, and it gives players free diamonds, coins, and stamina, so, I don't think that we will remove it.
1: Oh yeah. But, it's still unfinished, since it has no image and no name, and the items given are also nameless and image-less, so, players could complain about it!
2: Whatever. They can complain all they want. These retards are still nothing to us, except things to suck money out of by any means possible.
1: Please, don't say such things about our dear players! They are everything to us!
2: Pffft. Fine. Now, back onto the topic at hand. I would like to see the players' reactions. Also, perhaps, we could finish the character, as well as give them and their items images? What do you think?
1: Yay! I would actually love to see a new character, so, yes please!
2: Okay. Unfortunately, I can't chat with you anymore for the day. It's time for me to go home. Goodbye. See you tomorrow.
1: It's time for me to go home too. Goodbye to you too! I hope that we can see each other again soon!
With that, the unusually long dialogue of the two developers was over, and I was given a list of what I had to craft. I had to have the dress "Fluttering Dance" in all of its variations. Since I already had them all, I just had to claim my rewards. The rewards were a bunch of stamina, diamonds, and a few thousand coins, as well as an item with no image, description, or name. I claimed the item and went to "Free Dressing" to see the item's category and its two main stats. It had no main stats displayed, unlike all the other items in the game, but, I could see that it was in the scarf section. I then went to "Wardrobe" to see the item's full statistics. Like before, no statistics were displayed. The item had no tags either. There are items with no tags, so, it's not necessary that the tags were invisible. One thing that was even stranger is that there was no Spirit of Sheen given, only this invisible scarf. I decided to tell people about what I found on "Starry Corridor", the place where you post suits with a short description. You can also write in the comments if you have a longer message than what could fit in the description. So, I posted a post with nothing but this scarf and a pajama dress equipped. The caption was: "WTF is this? Read Comments." I wrote in the comments about my experience. Soon enough, one of my friends, William Tyson in real life, Laos894 in game, took a "Group Photo" with me. He had his dress-up character completely naked, as well as bald, both of which are impossible to achieve in the game, unless there is a missing texture, and said in the comments that he had a similar experience. He also said that he had equipped the full set of items acquired from the glitchy Dream Weaver, but, it looked like the character didn't have anything equipped, as the items had no images. After commenting on his post that I was glad that I wasn't crazy, since I wasn't the only one experiencing this, I left Starry Corridor and went back to B's Dream Weaver to collect the whole set of glitchy items. The rest of the dialogue was just the two developers discussing the strange character and how they have decided to release it. A character named "Boss" also periodically appeared, telling his two subordinates that he was actually planning to release the mysterious and deliciously glitchy character too. After I finished all of the stages, I was left with a shit ton of in-game resources, as well as the full set of glitchy items. I also got something that didn't exist: an "Event Pass". This would allow me to complete any event, even one for real money, completely free of charge. As a non-paying player, I was overjoyed. I decided to use it on my favorite event: Time Palace. Upon using it, I acquired all of the main sets, as well as even more resources. I got all of the side sets too, plus one duplicate of each item to acquire the variation. After acquiring the variations of the sets, I was happy beyond belief. How did these developers, who were greedy scumbags most of the time, suddenly become so grateful!? I didn't understand, but, I was happy, and that's the only thing that matters, as I was sure that this wasn't a hack or a scam. Soon after acquiring the Event Pass, I started seeing that other people had the pass too. There was a rise in non-paying players (you can see if they pay or not) having sets that were for real money, as well as them having extremely expensive event sets. After a while, the new Dream Weaver was officially released. It was...not what I saw, though. It was Zhong Lizi's Dream Weaver. Oh, great. The developers have once again released the Dream Weaver of a character no one cared about, like always. Also, the rewards were much lesser. The set was some shitty Mulan ripoff, while the Spirit of Sheen was a dumb-looking pair of swords. But, hopefully, you can still access the Dream Weaver of the mystery character, whose items are still nameless and have no images to this day. I don't know how, though.
The End!
