Chapter 1: Mondstadt & Liyue

Hi there. My name is Zachary. I love video games, especially open-world RPGs. So, when I heard about Genshin Impact soon after its release and watched some gameplay videos of it, I really wanted to download it, as it was of my favorite video game genre, open-world RPG. It also had similarities to games from the Legend of Zelda franchise, which was my favorite video game franchise in my childhood. So, I opened a search engine and searched up "Genshin Impact download on PC". I opened the first website that came up and downloaded the game. For some reason, the site closed on its own after I clicked the download button.

Hopefully, I was able to download the game, and nothing out of the ordinary appeared during the download of the game. The download took a long while, as the game requires the downloading of a large amount of data. I did some unimportant things while it downloaded. After it finished downloading, I opened the game. I selected one of the servers, the Europe server, and started the game.

The opening cutscene was normal. I soon got to the part where you needed to select your Traveler and name them. I selected the male Traveler and named him Zachary. I'll just call him Zachary in this story.

I went through the usual beginning quest. I noticed something strange: my UID (user identification number) was 000000000. This wasn't normal, due to the fact that the only UIDs that started with a 0 were UIDs of accounts used during internal testing by the developers of the game. Although, I brushed this off as an error of some kind.

After I completed the first part of the beginning quest, I realized something. Usually, when you activate the Statue of the Seven at Starfell Lake in Mondstadt, your Traveler obtains the power of the Anemo (wind) element. Even after activating the Statue of the Seven at Starfell Lake in Mondstadt, Zachary still had no element. That was obviously not normal. Even though I understood that this was not normal and that I should probably do something like message the game's tech support, I was filled with curiosity. I wanted to find out what would happen if Zachary never obtained Anemo. So, I continued playing.

I ended up clearing the Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst tutorial with only Zachary's basic attacks. Soon after that, I obtained Amber. There was nothing wrong with Amber, hopefully. Amber had an element and worked normally. The rest of the starter team was normal as well.

Something strange happened during the beginning quest. In the part where Zachary was supposed to get blown away by a tornado, get launched into the sky, and fight the Stormterror, nothing happened. The Stormterror fight was completely skipped over.

After I finished the beginning quest, I could explore freely. Although, there was something extremely strange. I couldn't access the Wish menu. By that, I mean that the Wish menu button wasn't present. This was yet another abnormality, as you were supposed to unlock the Wish feature after finishing a certain part of the beginning quest. I completed it in its entirety, and, yet, the Wish menu wasn't there. Although, I didn't care about the Wish feature anyway, so, this didn't bother me much.

I explored Mondstadt. Although, there were a few problems. Anemoculi, a special collectible, weren't present. Anemograna, which were involved in a certain gameplay feature, also weren't present. Dandelions were gone too. Anemo Slimes didn't spawn anywhere. In puzzles where you were supposed to pop floating Anemo Slimes, they were nowhere to be seen, and the chests obtained for defeating them were obtainable without doing anything. Similarly, in places where they were supposed to be guarding chests, the chests were obtainable without doing anything. It seemed that everything related to the Anemo element was gone. This was so strange. This wasn't supposed to happen under any circumstances. Even if, somehow, you didn't obtain the Anemo element, collectibles, enemies, and even entire features weren't supposed to disappear! What was going on? My urge to contact tech support was growing, but so did my curiosity, so, I continued playing the game, trying my best to ignore the abnormalities.
