Hi, my name is Anna. I am interested in old games, such as games for the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). I also think that mods and ROM hacks of various games are interesting. So, it was like a dream come true when I saw an ad on an online marketplace for a used copy of Godzilla: Monster of Monsters that was modified in some way. I contacted the person selling the game and bought the game cartridge from him. I set up my console and began the game.

Everything seemed normal at first. I began the game: the first world was Earth. The map color and layout were the same, but the icons of the levels were different. The bosses were not Gezora and Moguera. Instead, their icons were a dark blue face, a treasure chest, and a merman.

A strange thing is that there was no Godzilla icon on the map, only a white horse. I entered the first level.

It appeared to be a vast grassland with a blue cloudless sky and shining sun. The music was a relaxing, somewhat cheerful piece of classical music that doesn't sound like something from an NES game. The horse character's name was Ascentia. Strange. Even though I wasn't very familiar with the Godzilla franchise, I did know many of the characters, and I certainly didn't remember a character somehow connected to Godzilla who was a white horse named Ascentia.

Ascentia could switch between walking and running. Her attacks were a hoof stomp, a backwards kick, and a forward kick. Of course, to speed up the game process, I mostly ran. I just ran through the level, not finding any enemies. All of a sudden, the sky turned red, and something that appeared to be a missile appeared in the sky.

It crashed down, and an animation of an explosion appeared. After the explosion dissipated, the screen briefly turned black before being lit up by a bright light. I saw that Ascentia was no longer an ordinary horse: she was now a winged unicorn. The light was coming from her horn.

This reminded me of Godzilla's origin story: he was a dinosaur mutated by nuclear radiation. The same thing happened to Ascentia. Surprisingly, the grassland wasn't in any way damaged by the explosion. Perhaps, Ascentia took the blow, transformed, and was able to protect everything around her?

Now, in addition to her old skills being buffed, Ascentia had new skills. She could sprint, running very fast, destroying obstacles and damaging enemies, but this consumed a lot of power. She could also fly and walk on water, which consumed no power. To add to that, she could fire two types of light beams from her horn. One was similar to Godzilla's heat beam and hit enemies in a straight line, while the other one was similar to the one in the illumination cutscene and hit every enemy, but consumed a lot of power. She could also simply stab enemies with her horn. She could impale and instantly defeat smaller enemies.

I explored the level, defeating the enemies, which were various animals, mainly carnivores like wolves. They were way smaller than Ascentia. After clearing the level, I explored all the other levels on the board.

The second level type was a water level. It was the surface of a lake with the same blue sky as in the grassland level above it. The music was similar to the grassland level music, but it had a stronger cheerful vibe. Ascentia could, as stated above, fly or walk on water, so, this wasn't a problem. Piranha-like fish occasionally jumped out of the water and damaged Ascentia if they hit her. I had to dodge their attacks. After a while of flying above or running atop the lake, I got to a mini-boss.
