Orion's POV

It's been four years, four excruciating years.

It's been four years since I've last seen Phoebe, my beautiful mate, I called around the local packs near her old pack and even further out but no one had a member with the same name, not even a rogue with her description popped up.

I've even travelled around over the years to see if I could catch her scent at least or even her, but not once did I come close. I've never regretted something the way I regret rejecting her. I've been severally depressed and heart-broken and it was starting to even affect the pack and it's all my fault, how could I have so stupid?

A year and a half of me being depressed my father helped pull me back telling me that whatever my problem was, I needed to sort it out as I was beginning to lose focus on the pack.

I never told him and mom that I had found my mate only Xander my beta and best friend and Connor my delta and other best friend knew since they were there when I first met her. They were very disappointed in me for rejecting her but they never pushed me into talking about it but whenever they'd walk into my office in the morning to find my head sprawled on my desk after a goodnight of drowning my sorrow with a couple bottles of strong whiskey, I never missed the disappointed looks they gave me as they helped me get up and handle the pack.

I never realised when I was nineteen how important mates are. My teenage-self took the opportunity of having a mate for granted. Not realising the devastating impact rejection would have on my mate, myself and my pack.

At twenty-three, I now fully regret what I did that morning and I know now that the moment I find her I'm never letting her go and if she doesn't want me I will move heaven and earth to prove how much I need and love her.

My thoughts were diverted by a knock on my office door.

"We're all ready to go. All the cars are sorted." My beta Xander informs me.

"Okay, I'm set. I called alpha Dane twenty minutes ago to let him know that we're on our way and that we'll be there in a couple of hours." I say picking up the paperwork that I needed to bring with me for my meeting with alpha Dane and a few other alphas about the rogues that have been attacking some local packs lately.

"Alright then, I'll meet you down there. I just need to say bye to Jenna and James before we leave." He says with a smile as he turns to leave.

"Sure" I say trying not to allow my jealousy to slip through my voice.

Not long after Phoebe ran away when I had rejected her, Xander found his mate Jenna while we were at a pack in Texas. He instantly fell for her and brought her back to the pack and a year later they were married and another year later Jenna found out she was pregnant with a little boy who they named James, his the spitting image of Xander.

I was happy for him, even though I envied what he had with his mate and pup, he is my best friend and at the end of the day I want the best for him. Jenna makes a great female beta; I just sometimes wish Phoebe was here with me.

Then there's Connor my delta. His still mate less and happy; he still enjoys having his fun with the different she-wolves but he never keeps a girlfriend, just one night stands.

I sighed and made my way down to the cars. Getting into the escalade with my paperwork in hand, so that could fill in some blanks within the documents during the ride. I noted that six of my pack members filled out the other cars. There was my beta Xander, third in command Connor and four warriors Lucas, Todd, Jake and Colt.

"Let's get going then; it's going to be a long journey." I say ready to leave.

"Do you know what time it is?" Connor groaned as he got in while Xander hopped into the driver's seat.

I laughed knowing that Connor is not a morning person and Xander thought it would have been funny to wake him up two hours earlier than necessary.

"It's six thirty, stop morning." I say while looking out the window as we drove out the pack territory.

"Well I didn't get much sleep, if you know what I mean." Connor replies winking at us before a huge smirk plastered his face. I shook my head and rolled my eyes in amusement as Xander chuckled.
