Phoebe's POV
I bolted across the diner's parking lot and down the three blocks to the day-care. I can feel them behind me, but there keeping their distance. I think he knows it's me. Well damn, it's my lucky day. I saw the day-care and bolted for it hopefully losing him so he won't know which way I ran. I slowed down my sprint so I could take the corner and run into the day-care without getting hurt. I ran through the door up to the twin's class. I stopped at the door and walked in after a little knock.
"Oh hey sweetie, what's the rush? What's wrong?" Vicky asked when she saw me, surprise and concern written all over face.
"Vicky, please I need you please tell Carl that I won't be around for the next couple of days. There's no time to explain, I'll call you immediately I get the twin's out of town. Please Vicky. His here..." I blurted out in a rush as I walked over to the twin's and gathered them up in my arms, one on each hip.
"Hi babies, sorry mommy had to take you early but we have to go okay, don't worry we'll be back soon. Say bye-bye to nana Vicky." I said to the twins as I made my way over to the door.
"Yes momma. Bye nana Vicky." They yelled over my shoulder as I walked out the door.
"Okay babies I need ya'll to hold on to momma really tight, I'm going to run really, really fast. Okay." I say to my twins as I begin to jog out of the door and onto the street.
They immediately comply and hold on to me for dear life.
I didn't hold back as I ran down the street to our apartment. Dammit! I can feel him, his about a block away that should mean I've got at least five minutes. I quickly run into the apartment building, heading straight for that stairs and taking them two at a time without slowing my pace down. I make it onto the second floor in record time and ran to apartment 45.
I set the twins down while I get the keys from my back pocket and unlock the door. Once that was successfully done I gently lift the twins up again and speed walk into the apartment.
"Okay, you two sit here while mommy gets some stuff. Don't worry my babies' nothing's going to happen to you or mommy." I reassure them with a kiss on each of their foreheads.
"Okay momma." They say at the same time with their cute grins. I quickly stand up and rush over to our room.
I grabbed the fairly large camping backpack that I got for times like right now. I quickly grabbed some of my clothes and almost all of the twins. I put a few of their shoes in as well, since I grabbed them and left their shoes at the day-care. I ran to the bathroom and threw in the toothbrushes and wash clothes and some of their baby products and a few of my things.
I rush back into the room and snatch up their blankies and favourite stuffed animals. I stuffed everything into the bag, zipped it up, slung it over my shoulder and ran to my patiently waiting twins.
"Let's get going my babies'." I say and they throw their arms up ready to be whisked away by their mommy dearest. I quickly snatch them up from the old couch and headed for the door.
"Remember, hold on tight." I practically ran out the door, turned, locked it and placed the key in my back pocket in three seconds flat.
"We shouldn't run from our mate Phoebe. Trust me on this one. I have a feeling his not going to do whatever you think his going to do." Indio said.
"I know Indi but I'm not going to risk it, please understand." I practically begged her.
"I do understand Phoebe. It's okay. Let's get them somewhere safe first." She agreed finally but I didn't miss the sadness in her tone.
I understand that Indigo wants' to see our mate, she's not being selfish because in her whole millennium she's never had a mate. So this is her first ever mate as a wolf and I don't blame her, I'd want to see my soul mate too after watching others find that type of happiness while you stand alone for a thousand years.
She and I both have no idea why the moon goddess would do that, but we know she wouldn't do it without a purpose.
Pushing all those thoughts into the back of my mind and focusing on the present. I made it to the stairwell and took the steps two at a time again. The twin's holding on tightly to me. I finally make it to the bottom floor and high-tail it to the front door.
I burst through the door and come to a complete stand still. I just can't catch a break, can I? Well yay me!
