An hour later you were in dry clothes that covered you more than that dress did before. Sitting in the bathroom, trying to figure out you could get out without him detecting it.

Why try at all? It's going to get you into more trouble. You thought, as you looked at your reflection in the mirror.

Coming so far and getting yourself away from your family ties. And you still end up in the hands of another mob. You looked at your reflection, as something behind you caught your eyes.

The doorknob to the bathroom moving slightly.

You turned around and unlocked it, finding Paul on bended knee with a lockpick in his hand.

"Thought that banging on the door wouldn't help considering your upbringing and I figured this was a better solution. Than finding you trying to escape out that bathroom window that leads out to a couple flights down. Don't want you breaking anything, or dying just yet." Paul said as he put the set away in his pants and stood up brushing off his suit as he looked down at you expectantly.

"Well I was going to make up an excuse but what's the point? I was trying to figure out how to escape and--" you started to say, as he took a hold of your arm and you were off trying to keep up beside him.

You went down a maze of halls until he stopped in front of one door. Again pulling a set of keys from his pocket and opening it.

"Ladies first." he said as he gestured to you going in first, as he flipped the light on.

What you saw surprised the hell out of you.

It wasn't a dank place that he would have kept you in to get information. But a room with a table covered with documents and shelving units that covered the walls.

You walked closer to the table and looked at some of the papers. Putting them back down looking back at Paul, who was still standing by the doorway just watching you take it all in.

"Wait, you, you brought me here. Specifically here to check your accounting? Your bookkeeping?" you asked, astonished, as you tried to hide the urge to laugh.

And here you thought he was going to torture you himself to get information out of you about your family.

"I need unbiased eyes. I did my homework on your family. After you separated yourself from them. When you wanted to go to school. They weren't willing to pay for your tuition. Must be awful hard trying to balance multiple jobs while taking classes. As well as everyone on that campus judging you. I know that you're an accounting major. So I thought better to use your skills this way than other ways. I need unbiased eyes, like I said before." Paul said as you blinked, waiting for more to come but it didn't.

"So what? I look at your books, see where everything is going and then I get to walk out?" you questioned, hoping that you just didn't step a line by asking him outright.

"No more like you'll be on my payroll. In exchange no more tuition payments having to be paid, no multiple jobs have to be worked." Paul offered as he nodded towards the paperwork.

"If not, i can drop you right back off at your dorm as if this never happened." he continued as you narrowed your eyes at him. Just waiting for the catch to this.

"Yeah you say that now and tomorrow you'll have somehow found my family. Or you say that but you keep me here in hopes to find out if they'll come looking for me. I know how this works. And I'll just end up dead. They don't care about me how you think they do Mr. Stanley." You said as you looked away and sat down wishing that you had gone against your father's wishes to avoid all this.

"It's not Mr. Stanley when it's just you and me. And that isn't the end goal at all y/n." Paul said, as he pulled out the seat for you to sit in.

"I know you think theres a certain end goal. But remember, not everyone is like your father. Running everything like a tyrant. Which is why I had them go easy on you in the interrogation." Paul explained as you sat down, and narrowed your eyes at him.

"Because i'm a girl--"

"Because I know your smarter than to falter when cornered. At least he taught you that. And i am being honest about the offer. There's no strings attached at all. Give it a look over and whether you find anything or not. Afterwards I'll drop you back off at your dorm and you wont see me again. Promise." he said as he held up his hands with a smile on his face, that made you smile as well despite the situation.

"Fine, I'll look these over then drop me back at my dorm." you said, holding eye contact with him as he went to hold out his hand as you shook it.

"Deal Ms. y/l/n. I'll check back with you in an hour or so." he said with a smile and a wink, as he left the room, closing the door behind him.
