a/n: yes I know once again earlier than the upload day....but this is because I think I've finally figured out another angle for my book so in celebration of me getting passed that like month slump tbh, here's the new update! (if you wanna check out what I'm talking about, check out scattered ashes)

Going to sleep you thought would be hard. But since half your dorm was empty, you didn't have to wear your sleeping mask or your earplugs to be able to sleep. But that didn't make you not wonder why your roommate left. It had only been a night that you were gone, that somebody had taken you.

And be driven right back to the dorm room by the very mob boss that arranged the kidnapping. Threatened a kid that was trying to do his for you. You should be scared. You would be if you were just an ordinary college student. But your past with your family rendered you numb to the things that would surprise other people. Normal people.

Nevertheless, you couldn't deny the peace you felt the next morning, waking up restful despite the early hours of the morning that you had been dropped off back at your dorm.

Rolling over in your bed, looking at the clock you decided to get up, run a brush through your hair, and change into something else. Keeping in mind that you wanted to wash and dry the clothes that you borrowed. To return to the person that offered them to you.

Paul.

You couldn't help thinking about him all morning, as you went to get breakfast weary that you would have to pay for your breakfast in the main hall. Only finding that there was more than enough money to cover your usual breakfast of overly sugary coffee; that frankly in the real world would not even qualify as coffee and an everything bagel with cream cheese.

Then you went to try and see what your payment for your tuition was that was coming up. You did this every month that the payment was due. See how much you had to move from your savings into you checking that you knew would cover it but also to make sure you wouldn't be surviving on ramen for the entire month.

Walking up to the teller you handed over your university identification card as the lady typed in your number.

"I'm just checking to see how much I owe for my tuition payment this month since I know its coming up." you said, as you tapped your fingers on the metal box that you put your id card through. Waiting for that astronomical number that meant that more would be taken out of your savings. You worked your ass off every second you weren't studying for it to go to this. And this was your chance at a life apart for your family's legacy.

"There is no payment due. It's been paid." the teller said as she passed you your card back.

"What? No, I know I had a payment that was due." you said, confused, as the teller looked at the screen and swiveled it over for you to look at as you saw that there was a note about indefinite payment with an account number listed on your account.

You furrowed your brows in confusion. Because you knew that this couldn't be your father's doing. He hated that you abandoned the family and went off to university. You worked multiple jobs to cover the tuition and the housing.

"Is there a way I can look up who paid or?" you questioned, as you saw the look on the attendant's face, which gave a good enough answer.

"If i had some anonymous person paying my tuition I wouldn't even question it. But maybe if you go to the financial aid office they might be able to give you more information." she said with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Is there anything else I could do for you while you're here?" she asked, as you shook your head no, as you put your id back into your wallet, more confused than ever.
