The two blushed extensively and were very embarrassed.

"Oh, um, neither of us are ready for marriage..." Liam spoke nervously, his hesitation coming out prominently

"Oh nonsense! You will get married, don't be selfish." Philip wore a disgusted expression as he spoke, acting as if he had been insulted.

"Excuse me if this comes off as disrespectful, but I would prefer not to get married as well. Liam is perfect, I'm just not ready." Estelle left the majority of the table shocked.
"Estelle, dear, you know we want what's best for you. We don't think you are being wise with your decision." Rose spoke softly, although Estelle took great offense to this.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not ready for marriage!" Estelle could not finish before she was interrupted by Curtis.

The feeling of being interrupted and not having her feelings or opinions properly expressed was something Estelle had to deal with her whole life. The people who spoke louder, the people who were considered "superior" to her, even her own friends would talk over her, sometimes Estelle thought they wouldn't even notice if she didn't talk at all. She had tried that once, it was in elementary school, everyone in class was talking with their little groups of friends, but young Estelle stayed silent. She nodded and laughed with the others, but never once actually spoke. Even when she wanted to, she stayed true to the promise she made to herself. Then, someone asked her why she wasn't talking. She finally had a proper invitation to talk.

"Oh, well this morning I made a promise to myself that-" Estelle started, but was cut off by Elise.

"Oh my gosh, that reminds me of this morning! Guess what my mom made me promise her! You guys won't even believe it!" Elise had a loud and recognizable tone, and she made the crowd laugh seemingly at her command, which was something Estelle had always been secretly jealous of. Everyone engaged in Elise's story, while little Estelle stood with a smile she forced on her face, holding in tears she would regretfully spill when she was alone.

"Estelle, think about how you are affecting your family and this town by refusing a perfectly pleasant marriage! It's quite ridiculous if I do say so myself." Curtis had no problem not getting interrupted.

Everyone argued about whether or not the two should get married, and everyone had finished eating, even with the slowed down consumption of the meal in front of them due to the arguing they felt they had to contribute too. Kian and Sebastian stayed silent, having no comment regarding this matter and knowing it wasn't their place to speak out of turn. Annora argued in the defense of the two, which only switched the subject to her and Louis.

"Well you and Louis are at least getting married? You're not selfish like them?" Roselle questioned, almost mockingly as she looked at Estelle and Liam with a displeased face.

"Oh, well I like Louis very much, but I am not quite ready for marriage either, although I would consider us dating." Annora smiled as she finished speaking, and Louis gave her an appreciated smile in response.

Louis, Annora, Liam, and Estelle stated many reasons why they weren't quite ready for such a huge change in their life's, although nothing was wrong with each other, but no one let them speak. At a certain moment before the meal ended, the parents began to be very stern, as if they had no choice in marriage, which made the sisters and brothers hold back tears of anger.

"You will get married and that's final!" Phillip bursted, slamming his fist on the table, causing a few people to jump.

"This is not fair!" Liam yelled back, creating an even more tense atmosphere, for it was very unlike Liam to yell in protest to his parents, or anyone for that matter.

"You can't make us get married just because it will fulfill your wants! Have you ever stopped to care about how we feel? How this will affect us more than it affects you?"" Liam continued.
