Defenders (A Warriors Fan-Fic)

Chapter 7

Dottie's POV

        Dottie proudly said to all the dogs that were there, "I'm so happy you said I could be in your Pack. My answer is yes! I will join your Pack and obey your rules as you please. It is okay if you disagree with this decision."

         The white-fur dog spoke up first. "As the leader of NaturePack, I, WhiteStar,  hereby declare Dottie to join the Pack and for her to perform her duties responsibly and obey our rules."

         Goldpaw was clearly eager to show Dottie around the camp. Dottie bowed her head at Whitestar and padded over to Goldpaw. They talked all the way to camp about how Dottie would be an apprentice just like Goldpaw and the duties of an apprentice.

          Dottie was also excited. "You know, Goldpaw.. You're alright. I think you and me will be the best of friends!" Goldpaw nudged Dottie and wagged her tail.

          NaturePack was obviously in the forest and their camp was covered by bracken, trees and leaves. The dogs went through the bracken tunnel to get to the camp. Dottie's eyes grew wide with astonishment. She had never thought that so many dogs lived in the woods! She saw so many kinds of dogs, one with brown fur and white paws, and another with black fur except for little white patches on its belly and chest. All the dogs heard the crunching in the tunnel and saw Dottie emerge. They all narrowed their eyes and kept doing what they were doing, without saying hello or anything to the newcomer. They probably thought PuppyPets weren't skillful and trained hard enough to become Pack defenders and warriors. Dottie would probably have to face up with this for a few days.

         Whitestar was padding to this huge rock and all the dogs seemed to walk towards it too, but stayed on the ground. Whitestar called out, "Let those young and old who can still catch their prey and do their duties, come to hear this Calling of the NaturePack!" He sat down and continued his speech. "There is a new dog that has joined our Pack. Dottie, come up here please." He looked straight at Dottie and she obeyed him. As she got up there, the dogs all howled and growled at her. Whitestar shouted, "Silence! As you could maybe scent, she was a Puppypet, but now she has joined our Pack and she swears that she will obey our rules and duties of her apprenticeship." He turned to Dottie. "Dottie, from now on you will be called, SpottedPaw. You are an apprentice just like Goldpaw and the other apprentices. I hope you obey our rules and prove yourself worthy of our Pack." He smiled and the crowd of dogs sort of mumbled stuff under their breath, but they called out Spottedpaw's new name and some of them came to congratulate her.

        Spottedpaw couldn't believe she actually started this new life. She thought that her beliefs were just some little fairy-tale, but it wasn't, it was real life! She couldn't wait to start her duties as soon as possible. The moon was showing when the little cermony was over. Spottedpaw looked up at the sky and knew her life was just the beginning of a new story.
