Chapter 10

GoldPaw's POV

           GoldPaw, SpottedPaw's best friend, woke up to the early rays of light from the sunrise. She spotted her friend, SpottedPaw, (Haha! Pun! I didn't actually mean to do that.) in her bed still asleep. GoldPaw giggled when SpottedPaw murmured stuff in her sleep. She stopped giggling to listen closer, because she heard something really familiar.

         SpottedPaw murmured, "SwiftFoot? Who's that? I'm new, I don't know about all the dogs' names in every Pack yet." She paused for a moment listening to this so called SwiftFoot. She then murmured, "Why do you want me to know that spots will save the Pack? And why do you say that a great danger is coming to the forest? Wait! No! Don't go I need to know what's going on!" SpottedPaw stirred and sat straight up in her bed.

          GoldPaw was thinking and she had heard this name, SwiftFoot, before. She padded up to SpottedPaw and licked her ear to tell her everything is fine. IcePaw, LarchPaw, and DapplePaw were awake and starting to argue about how SpottedPaw woke them with her murmuring. GoldPaw told them to shush and go outside. SpottedPaw's breathing began to slow down and she started to speak about her dream to GoldPaw, but GoldPaw told her she had heard enough of it. She told SpottedPaw to forget about it, but if she has another dream like that to tell WhiteStar or the medicine dog, SunCloud, about it.

         GoldPaw pressed her muzzle against her friend's muzzle, to comfort her, and went outside to begin her training with her mentor, MapleLeaf. While MapleLeaf was talking to her about how to catch prey, which she already knew how to but MapleLeaf was just making sure, ShadowClaw padded into the apprentice's den. He quickly got out, because none of the apprentices were in there, since SpottedPaw left to get a drink of water from the river near by. GoldPaw didn't know how SpottedPaw knew about the river, maybe SpottedPaw's mentor, GingerFur, had shown her. GoldPaw finished up her training and went to see if ShadowClaw left anything "special" in the apprentice's den. She looked around the den and saw a flower on SpottedPaw's mossy bed. It must have been from ShadowClaw, but why? ShadowClaw never liked PuppyPets, so why did he give SpottedPaw this flower? Maybe apologizing for two days ago about the rule of elders eat first? Or something else like he loved her..? No, he wouldn't love her, she was after all a PuppyPet. She picked the flower up in her jaws and went to find both ShadowClaw and SpottedPaw to see what was going on. This day just got interesting to GoldPaw and she wasn't going to let anything get in her way to see what was happening between ShadowClaw and SpottedPaw.
