Chapter 30

SpottedClaw's POV

SpottedClaw ran to the clearing where she couldn't believe her eyes. BlazeHeart was standing over WillowStar's body, blood clinging to his fur, claws, and mouth. SpottedClaw noticed WillowStar wasn't breathing and very limp so she knew that BlazeHeart had murdered her, when she didn't even have all her seven lives.

The spirit of ShadowClaw came back and whispered in SpottedClaw's ear, "Spots will save the Packs from the scorching flame that hides. I knew I couldn't trust him, he is the scorching flame!" ShadowClaw growled and his spirit faded away. SpottedClaw was alone again, but not for long.

SpottedClaw growled at BlazeHeart. "Why did you side with FirePack, BlazeHeart, or should I say LameHeart?" SpottedClaw saw BlazeHeart laugh.

"Why SpottedClaw, who do you think killed WhiteStar? Me! And where do you think I was when it was WhiteStar's vigil? Sleeping? Hunting? No! I was conducting a plan with FirePack, which was for them to make me their second leader, BlazeStar, and to come and kill off WillowStar and..," He paused and looked at SpottedClaw with a smirk on his face. "You!" He tackled SpottedClaw to the ground.

Why was he doing this? Why didn't he like NaturePack? SpottedClaw was wondering, but it was hard to concentrate with a dog on her. She scrambled out from under him and ran behind him, too quick for him. She leapt on him and raked her claws down his back. He rolled over and she fell to the ground. He pinned her down with a paw and dug a claw deep in her belly. She tried to struggle out of his grip, but couldn't budge. This is it, she thought, I'm joining WhiteStar and WillowStar.

Then, SpottedClaw felt lighter and saw LarchWing fighting off BlazeStar. No! FirePack or BlazeStar won't take another dog I love away from me! SpottedClaw angered. She joined in the fight. She had to save the Packs, but she could have help, right? She didn't care all she wanted to do was kill BlazeStar for murdering WhiteStar and WillowStar. She rolled under BlazeStar and clawed his belly until it started bleeding. He jumped back and started attacking her again. SpottedClaw saw LarchWing knocked out by BlazeStar's back legs.

He growled and lunged at SpottedClaw, but she dodged his attack and pounced on his back again. She raked her claws along his back again until it started bleeding and jumped off in time. He rolled over and she had the advantage. She pinned him to the ground and watched him struggle to get out of her strong grip.

"Why did you betray NaturePack? I thought you liked it here!" SpottedClaw spat. He chuckled.

"SpottedClaw you really thought I liked it there? I never did. I hated you the most. But I liked you the most too, because whenever someone thought I killed someone you would say I didn't, but I did. I love talking, but if I talked to much around NaturePack I might've spilled the beans and who likes spoilers?" He chuckled again. "Oh and ShadowClaw and LarchWing are both in StarPack thanks to me and my Pack, FirePack!"

SpottedClaw looked over at LarchWing's body. He lay still, but she could make out the tiny rises of his chest. She turned and growled at BlazeStar. She clawed his ear, nose, and belly. She seemed satisfied to see that with all that bleeding he wouldn't make it. She then realized he could have seven lives and maybe she had to fight him six more times until he actually died. No. Lowstones were far away, near SunPack and IcePack's territories.

BlazeStar got up and yelled for his Pack to retreat. SpottedClaw turned over to LarchWing's body, who looked like he was dying. She was about to nudge LarchWing when BlazeStar attacked her from behind. She thought FirePack was gone and they were, but BlazeStar wanted her to be dead. She protected LarchWing and attacked with all her ancestors by her side.

SpottedClaw had locked BlazeStar in a tight grip. "You thought you could mess with my Pack, but you were wrong. Have fun in, wherever your spirit leads you to." She clamped her jaws tight on his neck and could hear the gurgling of blood in his throat. She let go of her grip and looked down upon BlazeStar, who was lying limp on the ground.

SpottedClaw turned around and saw LarchWing getting up. He saw her and padded over to her. They both nudged each other and licked each others wounds. SpottedClaw had found a new mate just like she promised she would and she would never forget about ShadowClaw and how she loved him.

"Thanks for saving my life back there." SpottedClaw nudged LarchWing and touched her nose to his.

"No problem SpottedClaw. I couldn't of lived without the love of my life." LarchWing sat down beside SpottedClaw and they watched the sun go down, pelts brushing.

Spots had saved the Packs and defeated the scorching flame that hid himself.
