Chapter 8

ShadowClaw's POV

        ShadowClaw was just getting out of the crowd of dogs from the gathering. He heard congratulating, but it wasn't himself. He didn't approve of a PuppyPet being in any of the Packs. He narrowed his eyes at the so called Dottie, now SpottedPaw, as she ran over to meet up with  GoldPaw and the other apprentices LarchPaw, DapplePaw and IcePaw. SpottedPaw must have seen him glare at her, because she looked at the moon and then retreated into the apprentice's den. ShadowClaw got up from where he was sitting and went to the prey-pile, where all the prey NaturePack had caught was in a pile. He caught sight of the prey and he began to get an idea. He smirked and padded over to the apprentice's den.

        SpottedPaw saw him wander in and greeted the slick black dog with fur-shedding claws.

        She barked. "Hello! Who are you? Sorry I'm new as you probably knew. I'm SpottedPaw by the way."
        ShadowClaw reluctantly replied, "I'm ShadowClaw, and you better watch your back if you mess with me." He unsheathed his claws and SpottedPaw's eyes grew wider. He continued. "So..I was wondering if you wanted something to eat? I'll guide you just say yes or no."
         SpottedPaw's eyes sparkled. "Really!? Wow! I get to eat with an experienced warrior! I mean yes."
         ShadowClaw smiled a brief smile and padded over to the prey-pile with SpottedPaw following. As they got there other dogs were crowding also.

         ShadowClaw sat down and took a squirrel from the pile. "Go ahead SpottedPaw..Take your pick on any of the prey in the pile." ShadownClaw didn't eat his squirrel until the elder's were all done with their share, but his plan was working.

         He watched as SpottedPaw took a squirrel herself and took a few bites out of it. She instantly finished it and ShadowClaw chuckled. What? Chuckling!? Why am I chuckling!? This PuppyPet is nothing but a PuppyPet! She's not Pack born or anything like that, don't laugh at her if she's being funny! He thought to himself. He shook himself and cleared his thoughts when he heard a loud bellow across the clearing of the camp. The shape came closer and it was WhiteStar! ShadowClaw's plan had worked and SpottedPaw was going to get punished for eating before the elders. He smirked and waited for the punishment to begin.
