The arrival of the students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang institute was highly anticipated by the Hogwarts students. You never had given it much thought however, until the moment they arrived in the great hall. Truthfully you had been quite occupied with your boyfriend Fred, although he had certainly spent more time working on his mischief with his twin brother George and his best friend Lee. You yourself had been surprised by how enjoyable it was to share a dormitory with Hermione and the other girls, Parvati and Lavender. You had never had good friendships with girls before you arrived at Hogwarts, something you blamed your intimidating Veela nature on.

You sat next to Fred at the feast in the great hall, who was in the midst of a bad pun the second the big doors to the hall creaked open, the students of Beauxbatons arriving in their powdery blue uniforms, most of them seeming not to be impressed at all by the sight of Hogwarts castles interior, as if they were above it all. It was painfully obvious how most of the male students openly glared at them up and down. Then lastly walking inn proudly just behind their giant Headmistress, appeared someone who struck you with familiarity by the mere sight of them. A girl who was far taller than yourself, slim and elegant with long silvery blond hair swinging in the air behind her, her skin glowing like moonlight just like yourself, yet perhaps more remarkable. This was the first time you had seen anyone like yourself, someone half witch half Veela. As you perched up in your seat in interest, she did not seem to notice you as she passed by.

You yanked Fred's arm,

"Did you see that?, she's just like me"

"I disagree, I reckon she's nothing compared to you" he answered, almost whispering so only you would hear despite everyone's focus being far further into the room. You chuckled, of course you had not meant it that way.

Your eyes were still glued on her, as Dumbledore presented the headmistress. She seemed so effortless, so free of worries and troubles compared to you. At the same time you could not help but notice she seemed more witch than yourself, her hair notable blonder than your own. Perhaps it was easier to be that way, less strange, less unhuman.

Then the students of Durmstrang arrived, in a far more menacing manner. People were stunned however, by the arrival of the Quidditch world star Victor Krum. The dishevelled looking man by his side, the headmaster of Durmstrang, Igor Karakoff, placed his dark eyes upon you in surprise, almost somehow in recognition. You shivered.

After the feast you had tried to look for the Veela girl in the crowds that walked out of the great hall, to no avail. You wanted to speak to her, ask her everything she knew. Maybe she could even teach you how to better control and understand your shared magic. But she was gone, and she had not seemed to notice you at all. Fred was not helping either, he did not understand why it was so important to you at all.

The unexpected intenseness of your new Defence against the Dark Arts professor, Alastor Moody had left the class speechless. He had somehow, within a short amount of time demonstrated with no difficulty whatsoever, the realities of the magic that had seemed so distant and forbidden to you. The forbidden curses, that you had only ever read about, performed right in front of your wide eyes. You had tried to forget about it afterwards, but most seemed downright impressed about your new professor's raw method of teaching. He was an Auror afterall, just like the wizards that had hunted you down the year before like you were some wild dangerous creature. Fred and George seemed rather pleased about his methods too, and you could not help but feel a slight disappointment.

How could it be that the Ministry had made someone like you to be such a big threat? When it was the wizards who could so easily, just with intent and with the flick of a wand, use such vile and evil magic, you wondered.
