The journey to London with the Hogwarts Express never failed to soothe you, perhaps it was the monotonous rumbling of the train rolling over the rusty old tracks, or the green windswept landscapes of the Scottish highlands passing by peacefully outside the train compartments window. But most of all, you were certain it was Fred, sitting there by your side. The fingers of your hands tangled together, despite how he had fallen soundly asleep not too long after departure. His head resting on your shoulder, his red hair softly tingling the skin of your neck. It was moments like this that you truly realised that the pair of you were meant to be together, no matter how heavy your fathers legacy weighed on your soul.

By the time the train rolled into King Cross station, dusk was settling. Fred had been asleep for most of the journey, which was understandable considering how he must have awoken quite early that day to fly all the way from London to Hogwarts in order to meet you. A sweet gesture, considering how there might not be much privacy awaiting you at The Burrow. From the window you saw Arthur, George and Bill standing at the platform waiting.

After gently shaking Fred awake, you gathered your luggage and Fred's Siberian Arrow Broomstick and excited the train onto the crowded platform. The air among the parents waiting seemed different now than it used to, like they were all impatient to gather their children and leave as quickly as they could. The Ministry's long-awaited announcement of the Dark Lord's return must have caused a lot of fear among all. It seemed they were all nervously anticipating the next bloodshed or the next muggle attack, and you understood perfectly well why. In most wizarding families the wounds of the last Wizarding world had only recently seemed to heal, and now there you all were living it out yet again.

You put on a smile as you greeted the Weasley's, gathering up with Ron and Ginny too. Arthur seemed to be able to handle the fact that they had very nearly gotten themselves killed at the Department of Mysteries only a few days ago, far more well than you expected Molly would. He still hugged his children tightly, briefly applauding them for their bravery, you suppose he would rather give Molly the task of scolding them for their recklessness.

"And you Y/n, how good to see you again" Arthur smiled, cheekily looking over at Bill before he continued,

"I expect Fred has told you all about the big news?"

Although your heart nearly missed a bit before you remembered, you hurriedly nodded.

"Of course he has, Congratulations Bill, I'm so happy for you and Fleur!"

"Thank you!, she's quite looking forward to seeing you again, been raving about it ever since she heard about the battl-"

"Let's get going kids, Molly will get even further worried if we're late" Arthur interrupted, it seemed he had spotted someone he'd rather not meet. Guiding Ginny and Ron by their shoulder towards the portal wall after they had loaded their luggage onto the trolley. You turned around to see a tall pale woman, standing out in the crowd rather noticeably due to her elegant wear. It was Narcissa Malfoy, and she was clearly searching for her son. The absence of her husband Lucius was noticeable as well, several parents standing about the platform was giving her dirty looks as she walked around.

When she caught eye of you, she immediately rushed towards you. All the rest of the Weasley's but Fred had already walked ahead to the portal with the trolleys. Her eyes were filled with tears as she approached you, she did not even seem to be too bothered by the presence of Fred, a member of a family she had been very clear was beneath her own.

"Y/n, how lovely to see you" she said without sounding too convincing,

"You haven't seen Draco have you?"
