Sirens. Police cars. Fire engines. Ambulances. The trains going from one place to another nonstop with no break, no rest, rocking the heavy earth as they shoot past. Pitch black sky with only lamp posts to guide the night owls and insomniacs of the hours. Tall, intimidating buildings covered the city.

Legs sat near the edge of the rooftop of the school dormitories with only but a phone screen lighting up their pale, fatigued face. Coffee in one hand. Phone in other. Their facial features were barely readable. Golden like cat eyes glowed in the night, which contrasted the heavy bags under their dreamy eyes clearly from the high amount of coffee consumption and possible insomnia. Their body motionless except the occasional breathing that gave a sign of life. Even if it was so minuscule.

The rooftop door was opened by a pair of hands from a boy looking the same age as the one sat on the rooftop. "Shuichi...?" The voice was quiet compared to the sirens in the vast city. "...Kokichi? Ah, hey. Sorry if I worried you, I couldn't sleep." Kokichi closed the rooftop door and approached Shuichi to sit next to him. "So the usual then?" "...yeah" Kokichi always knew about Shuichi's lack of sleep and how it had an impact on his daily functions. How he would fall asleep at his desk working on cases and drink excessive amounts of coffee. Along with this, Kokichi noticed the coffee in Shuichi's hand, not surprised by the sight; he grabbed the cup of coffee from Shuichi's hand and poured it over the rooftop edge. Not giving a moment hesitation. "H-hey! What was t-that for?" Kokichi refuted, "You should know better than to drink coffee, especially when you can't sleep, Shuichi..."

Shuichi felt embarrassed about this and avoided the eye contact that he hated ever so much. Kokichi sighed. He moved away from the rooftop edge and sat back down again next to Shuichi, placing his head on Shuichi's shoulder and his arms cuddling the other's arm. "If you can't sleep, please don't worry about coming to me to help. Even if I'm asleep next to you. I want you to get the sleep that you deserve. Even though it isn't that easy, just don't rely on caffeine or anything other than that. I'm always going to be right next to you and I'm here for a reason... Okay?" No one else has seen this side to Kokichi other than Shuichi. Behind his lying and joking persona, lies a boy who would give his life for the ones he loves.

"Okay...Thank you, Kokichi. I mean it, thank you." Shuichi removed his arm from kokichi's arms and wrapped it around Kokichi's body to bring him closer. Sharing their warmth with each other on the cold, and busy night.

"I love you, Kokichi." Shuichi leant down to place a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead. Despite trying his utmost to hide it, this, of course, made Kokichi blush.

"I love you too, you stupid detective."

I just wrote this as a sort of vent and I did not proof read so I'm sorry for any mistakes and I'm also going to aim to write more as it does comfort me.

None of you are probably going to read this anyway but I'm just going to carry on as I need to get this off my chest. So I've started homeschooling again because of covid but on a more intense level now with live classrooms and its a massive pain. My mental health has rapidly declined from stress not just from school work but with issues with my family as well. I'm going through my first experience with a family member dying and at this point, it was the worst person for it to have happened to and it's getting harder and harder to cope with every day as I can no longer console in them when tension between my parents gets very severe.
